Wow, Love it.

Randomly picked this up and I suprisingly have enjoyed every "chapter" which turns out to be a literal page each. That said, you can catch up on the whole series in less than a half an hour, which is the sad part. Good news is that so far the releases have been pretty much daily and now I have something to look forward to everyday.

I like that all the dumb "dense" or tomboy character cliches are made fun of, addressed or even resolved. It's also not just about the girl and guy but involves other characters regularly. All the characters are pretty distinct in personality and looks from each other so its never confusing or tiresome. And I found a lot of scenes and dialogue hilarious - definitely the main reason why I love it.

Really happy I found this!

The story is pretty good

the interactions are very entertaining and 4koma format works well for slice of life with out any large scale plots and story to tell. Hopefully the story it has will progress instead of milking the same situation and jokes over and over.

@MaZzAx I am sorry but the author has not stated anywhere of his gender difference opinions. He does not say all male martial artists are stronger than female martial artists and all you see is one example of a specific male martial artist that studies together with the female heroine martial artist being stronger than her. Why could the male martial artist not just happen to be stronger? Are you not being sexist for automatically assuming the situation here is sexist just because one guy is stronger than one girl? It is not like the author has an overweight man with no physical activity experience bitch slapping down a mountain of female judo, karate, kendo, etc practitioners

Tomo-chan Is a Girl! | Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko! Review. Romance about a muscular boy and an even muscular woman.
by Shellshock

Rating: 7.0  / 10.0
Tomo-chan starts off with a confession.... that our dense MMC doesn't understand. The main heroine is an incredibly tomboyish girl as such she's always been treated like a boy (honestly its almost 50/50 her fault) by her best friend and her Crush. Jun is character made of steel and is incredibly, unnecessarily chiseled. Along side with the help of her 2 other friends can Tomo find a way to make Jun see her as a woman and hopefully make him fall in love with her.

First thing you'll notice is its large ass amount of chapters. Relax its a short and sweet series. Its a daily manga with 1 page representing each chapter. Similar to Mousou telepathy. The series is 8 volumes long. Its also much shorter than your average read being only 140 pages but at the same time being a faster read than your average 4koma manga.

Now lets talk characters. They are spanktastic. I really enjoyed the chemistry between. They are likable with their more than friends and less than lovers like relationship (Jun and Tomo). Tomo-chan's difference between her feminine side and her boyish is done incredibly well. Its this contrast and the reactions about the people around her that makes this series so interesting and hilarious. The side characters are pretty funny too. Especially the=side-main duo gundou and Carol. They are just a joy to watch especially due to there conflicting personalities. The author is so good at making contradictions and contrasts absolutely hilarious. I laughed quite a lot in this manga. More so than i thought i would. The romance is also surprisingly good. Not just when it happens. But there is constant tension and chemistry from the start. So watching it all unfold is always fun.

The problem with this series is the serious side. I just could not take any of the *serious* moments seriously. Maybe they weren't supposed to be taken seriously but they weren't funny either so moments like those always feel wasted. They were some that were below average... those were better ones of the lot. Remember when i said the romance is always fun? I lied. The romance takes hits here and there. More specifically the Firework festival. Its kind of annoying that the author decided to pull this kind of nonsense. He pulls it again but though not forgivable its still pretty damn funny.

TLDR: This is a nice quick read. Though there are quite a few issues and 1 big issue. I think considering the fact that i liked the series enough to actually remember the names of the 4 main characters i guess i'll let this series barely get away with a 7/10. Also the ending is fine if you binge it.

I hate 4-koma but this one is brilliant

I normally dont read 4-koma manga styles, I hate the pacing and story wise it is normally rushed, idiotic or "broken" (dont know how to properly explain it), but this one erases all my misgivings. It doesnt feel rushed, the story, even if it appears like a normal manga, is good and adapts itself properly to the 4-koma style. I recommend reading it for a good laugh and nice story.

This is pretty good

This is pretty nice man i do sometimes like watching stories with more different and interest female characters. Like a cute tomboy character, or a kuudere character. Plus it can be really funny at times with it. Im just really looking forward to how this develops. The only issue i have is the one page per chapter thing of course.

Update: This is still going pretty good so far but man i cant tell you how much i hate the one page chapter at a time thing. It feels like every chapter we only move an inch in the story. Its starting to be a bit frustrating honestly. I wish the author can just diss out some more.

Also i agree with the comment below me about the first commenter MaZzAx. First of all in chapter 20 it showed that the Main heroine did deliver more blows in their altercation and later it clearly shows that he is trains in Karate too since he was young; their child hood friends so it was expected too. The lead herself states that hes not weak so yea to just assume that this series is sexist from one panel is wrong. She just said she couldnt beat him because he had the same skills as her and a bit of a strength advantage too so it would be hard. She did beat up a ton of dude in her karate dojo and in the boys karate club but i guess that doesnt count.....Plus now a days in manga a dude cant be stronger anymore without it being sexist? (this doesnt do that) but come on not every girl is an action heroine man.

Progress Trick

So I didn't start reading this series until it was at about Chapter 350 due to all the talk surrounding it and man did I catch in nno time.
This story is funny and different. You've got the tomboy girl and the most sense male character I've probably seen. Maybe on purpose sometimes. And you've got the straight talking friend and the cotton candy both of which add fun moments in between the main couples antics. Also do not believe people when they say it progression is slow. While it may seem like it you have to realise that having 500 one page chapters is a fraction of for example Nisekoi.

Overall if you like romance and comedy in small portions you will probably love this story.

I'm starting to feel that all of the waiting 4 the two mc's to get together made me lose that spark I had when I started like.. meh. but MAYBE its just ME idk ok :/

I'm only keeping up with this manga bc I'm already too far along to quit; plus misuzu+carol=best girls af lmao

This manga is about tomboys struggle to get a guy's affection. Its not about drama, confusion, jealousy, and or hate . If your into that go read Himegoto - Juukyuusai no Seifuku!. If you want to read a manga that's good for the soul, lightens the mood, Not garbage, and is a great manga, this manga is for you.
