Korea has become a trend in the latest decade or so and honestly if you have been in Korea you know that it ain't it. Abuse society from the core. This webtoon deals with the beauty standards that Korea which is one of many parts that are broken in there. Happy for all the people that manage to leave from there.

Idunno, I just really really liked reading this webtoon and had such a fun time reading it. LOL. It was super enjoyable and I don't find myself saying that for many series. It's cute and light-hearted and warm, and it makes you feel good. It's a 10 for me.

Hmm, this wasn't a bad webtoon, but it wasn't exactly OMG AMAZING for me either.

It's a really nice, lighthearted read -- not too crazy or over-the-top, it's well-paced and the story was interesting and super fluffy and cute. That also means it's very cliché and cheesy (when the male lead is so unreal, then you know you can't find that irl!!), but that's never a problem for a story that's supposed to be cute and soft anyway.

Also, I'm surprised this webtoon was made into a drama, because honestly speaking, the art isn't that impressive. BUT, I understand that this is a meaningful story -- it's great for young girls to learn to love themselves, and that true beauty is more than just skin-deep. I would recommend it for that. 🙂

Didn't expect much from the "ugly to beautiful" premise but it manages to be so much more than that. I loved seeing Mi-rae tackle her scars and self-esteem issues and just seeing the amount she changes from the very first chapter to the last is like night and day. Her relationship with Kyung-seok as well was so well-developed. He's outright hostile towards her at the beginning, but when she learns to push back they become the most awkward couple I've seen in a romance story but in a good way, and you get a sense that the two characters bring really positive things out of each other. Soo-ah's story as well I didn't expect to get as invested in but at a certain point I cared more about her conclusion than the main characters.

Overall fantastic story and doesn't take a judgemental stance on plastic surgery in either direction. It doesn't judge Mi-rae for getting surgery, and it doesn't overly glamorize the people who choose to stay natural either.

I haven't read this yet, but I recently finished the K-drama and thought it touched upon real life daily struggles of women who choose to do PS and the message was powerful. If they decided it was good enough to make a drama out of it, I'm sure the original manhwa is just as good if not better.

This one right here. It’s beautifully written.
I started with low expectations and usually these sort of stories lose my interest after a while. It’s a different case here. Every episode makes me want to read more. I kind of hoped Sooha or whatever her name was (the mean girl) would be the kind of character whose intentions are unknown, and not immediately labeled as ‘good’ or ‘bad’. Turns out she’s more of a bad character unfortunately.
I liked the development of the characters. You might hate them at first, reader and characters alike, but witnessing their gradual changes, you’ll come to like them too. It comes with time and after 30+ episodes of reading.
In real life, I can’t IMMEDIATELY tell a gangnam beauty apart tho (could be just makeup or heavy contouring sometimes), so it’s exaggerated in the story. I appreciate the popularity and origin of the webtoon, Korea, a country where lookism takes place, alas. It has a wonderful message.

I've had my doubts regarding this webtoon but upon reading, the story tackles the daily challenges women have to face in society and was deeply touched by how it shows the reality that I had to encounter on a daily basis. It shows that no matter what you do, you will still be judged.

Gangnam Beauty is an interesting story about the beauty standards (particularly in Korea) that affect women.

The plot takes an interesting take on the whole "ugly girl turned beautiful" trope because the whole premise of the story actually turns it on its end. The main character who despite getting surgery to become beautiful is still treated poorly for not being "natural" and a "plastic monster." However, despite this, she must learn that she, as well as other female characters, are not to be judged solely on their looks because they are much more than an item to be displayed.

The main character is what I would like to call the "victim" of the story, having changed her face entirely. She, like many of the other characters in the story, are plagued by the societal beauty standards that pressure women into making life-changing decisions.

The characters are decently well-written. Each noteworthy character has a very defined characteristic about them. You can easily read what their motivations are for each action. However, some characters are genuinely unlikable or forgettable, but they do not hinder the overall message of the story.

Regardless of how well the story is written, the message is profound and is well worth the read.

Well, it is a simple beautiful story people can relate to.. I like how the main character find out that physical beauty isn't always the answer.. And simple setting, it doesnt get really complicated, a perfect read for a lazy evening

I'm surprised no one has written a review for this manga yet. I really recommend this story to those who like stories about an ugly girl turning beautiful. But in my opinion she isn't all that pretty after the plastic surgery. I had to constantly convince myself that she is the ideal type of beauty in their manga world. The plot is kind of basic but the story is pretty interesting. Cold and handsome boy with a mysterious past is in this story, along with the girl who wants to hide her ugly past of her being ugly before to everyone, then of course the girl who everyone likes but is evil and does everything she can to get what she wants without getting anyone to suspect her. If you like these type of characters, then this is the story for you my friend.
