It's not that bad...

...unlike the commentor below me had said. Personally into possessive guys, so I didn't mind the male lead (I did dislike him at first though). I do like the female lead- she's pretty badass and tries to solve her own problems than letting others do it for her. The story does pick up (read up to the current chapter) and you get to find out the circumstances behind the contact between the leads. I must say though, this is not the best from this mangaka. I highly recommend her other series, Ayakashi Hisen, the plot is a lot better and so are the characters.

Typical shoujo with a human female lead and a supernatural male lead, unhealthy relationship and all.

Male lead, Setsu, has some sort of magical contract with the female lead, Misaki, that basically results in a master-servant relationship. He can "command" her to do things while nearby, and she has no choice but to obey. Her body will physically react to the order without her knowledge.

The contract also means only he can drink her blood, and he can only drink her blood. Cue misguided "aww-ing" because this forced exclusivity is somehow romantic.

To make it worse, this contract can only be ended by the vampire - no matter how much she asks him to cancel the bond. Cue more misguided coos as the target audience is led to believe this possessiveness to the point of disregard for her wishes is attractive.

And, to further add to this, Setsu looks like a child. This has shotacon written all over it, regardless of how mentally advanced, or "manly" (i'm gag) he may be. He even wears a typical elementary school student's sailor uniform.

He saves her from aggressive vampires and gets severely injured, which, I can only assume, is meant to further change the audience's opinion of him. "He saved her!! And he got so hurt!! Oh my god, what a hero!" Cue willful ignorance of his borderline abusive behavior and controlling/restrictive tendencies.

The art is adorable, and the scanlators did a fantastic job of translating/cleaning/etc. But the story? The characters?
Hard Pass. No thanks. We already have a Twilight and a Vampire Knight for all audiences craving YA supernatural romance with destructive relationships.
