"Oni to Tengoku" is, on the face of it, rather disturbing. I did originally believe that it was going to take a darker route, given the story appeared to be setting up sexual extortion (twice in fact), but it was played rather lightly. This is endemic to this story. Students are seduced by someone who can only really read as a chronic sexual offending psychopath and the other MC has been abused thoroughly by his mother. But these aspects of the story are played in a rather soft way. Of course, this situation in real life would be totally morally bankrupt - as the reviewer "kenzokun" pointed out, our non-psychopathic MC becomes quickly complicit in the nurses chronic sexual abuse. This would not fly in reality, so I can understand why it turned them off the story.

For me personally, the fantasy situation shown to us does not demonstrate the amorality of the author, nor make me enjoy the story less. Mainly because this is one of the most thematically bountiful yaoi I’ve read - nihilism, abuse and love vs sex being but a few. Both characters feel they have been ignored by the world around them, and compressed into the shapes that their families (primarily) expected of them. As we move through the story, the drama and comedy are all conveyed through expressive and well constructed art, panelling and character dialogue (this is most certainly not poorly written as kenzokun claims). It was refreshing to have a story where the characters are drawn with notes of realism and were a bit closer to expiring than a high school student. I was thoroughly hooked from the first time the MCs spoke to each other -the weirdly off-kilter psychoticism of the nurse being shown as a reptile eyeing up the archetypical sufferer of an oedipus complex. It’s great and I’m glad the author gave the story some time to breathe with 10 chapters. Thoroughly recommended if you don’t mind the aforementioned issues surrounding a character, who if existed in IRL, would be completely indefensible (I would like to note for any readers that this is arguably true for many enjoyed characters in popular media e.g. yanderes, the spiders from HxH, and I could go on endlessly). Fiction exists for a reason people.

As much as the first volume may be unpleasant with the rape, the twisted, toxic relationship and the theme of child abuse, keep up reading! Starting from the second volume, things go way deeper and psychological, leaving you flabbergasted and out of breath at some point. The build-up may be long, but it is worthwhile.

Absolutely in love with this! The characters' facial expressions are especially expressive and so endearing! Ugh my heart!!

the mangaka got a good psychic story,which she just ruined it ,by approving child abuse ,and adult got repeated abuse as when he was a child ,only he appeared to be enjoying it now and before!!....what the heck!!!

Ok, artwise this was the absolute fucking best, I mean Manabus eyes are staring right into your soul and I love how decidedly asian he looked, something that I feel is lacking in almost any other manga! Loved Aokis look as well, the expressions, the dialogue....
The plot itself is dubcon at best and sadly doesn't really explore SM at all but oh well, I've read worse...

If you don't understand why someone might be into sadomasochisme, then don't read this, as it is clearly not for you. For those who are, I'll add that this has someone with a praise kink, which is always fun to see. Wish there was more kink moving forward. First was jam packed with it, and the second has almost none 🙁

First of all, I have to clarify, that I have a high tolerance of rape/sexual abuse as a theme in my reads, and I'm not easily offended by the usually poor handling of these issues in BL manga, plus I like dark, twisted stories, but this one was soooooo badly written, it pissed me off so much, I couldn't even finish the 1st volume. And that's rare from me.

I don't care if the main couple will be all lovey-dovey later, their characters and relationship are so toxic from the start, that nobody can convince me it's worth reading any further. Both of the characters are pathetic and despicable, I honestly don't care about neither of them. Aoki's student was sexually harassed by a school nurse, and all he can do is just casually shrug it off, like nothing happened? Sorry mister, but I don't have an ounce of sympathy for you at all, if you can excuse the molester like you did in the manga. (The kid doesn't have a grudge against his molester? Oh, OK, then it's alright, no big deal. Like WTF, dude?) And Tengoku? He is nothing more, than a sadistic rapist, I won't even waste my time describing how utterly badly written his character is.
The author should be ashamed of herself, portraying sadistic sexual harassment as an OK method of "counselling". Cut off the pseudo-psychology girl, your work won't be "deep" with this shit, just a pathetic, tryhard, edgy piece of garbage.

The art is kinda nice though, but even that couldn't save this manga from landing in my trash can.

Don't waste your time on this one. If you want to read actually well written, dark, twisted, psychological BLs, then start with Nakamura Asumiko's work. She's one of the best.
