Description
Sumire is a 17 year old high school girl who wants nothing more than to make friends with her new classmates. She's so disappointed that they all seem to hate her, calling her a pervert, a dirty old man, creepy, weirdo... alas, what is a poor life-sized puppet to do in this cruel world.

Seriously, this manga is the strangest one i ever read. A puppet master with a serious attitude inspire young students for future success. Cant believe this manga only 2 volume. Great one.

Really, that girl (guy? lol, idk) is one of the most likeable characters I've ever come across in fiction. If only people like her/him actually existed!
jangofetts' comment, below, does have a point, but if you liked Sumire 16-sai, I still recommend you try this one out. It's a bit more rushed than its predecessor (probably because of the length), and since each chapter focuses on a different character who's (eventually) inspired by Sumire, it's not really possible to get attached to them like we did to the cast in the original story, but despite these flaws Sumire 17-sai manages to accomplish what the author intended: a stress-busting, inspiring read for when the cruelty of the real world has got you down and you just need some sweet, light-hearted fun in your life.

For Sumire-16 fans who expected more of the same, the sequel can be a bit of a let-down. Whereas 16 focused more on the friendship aspect, it does not come across as strongly in 17. The character development is quite limited as well. In fact apart from Sumire, very little background is known about the majority of side characters. The funny lol moments are fewer as well. In short, it's a nice read, but the series comes nowhere close to the prequel. It's a good thing, it is limited to just 2 volumes (18 chapters). Anymore would have been just dragging the story.
