One of the best shoujo I've read

At first, I thought this was a good manga. But as I read further into the series, I became addicted to it. It is a GREAT manga. Since so many chapters have passed, I decided to go back and read and it's still just as good as the first time. I even caught many things that I didn't notice the first time. I appreciate the strategically placed moments of romance (if you could call it that) that make it so much more memorable and sweet. Crossing my fingers that Ren and Kyoko will advance further in their relationship =D

The way that this manga flows makes me happy, and I think I may have woken up my family members many a time with giant fits of giggles during the night while reading. n_n
The first manga volume was kinda bad, but there were some moments that I loveeeed.
I was really shocked[the happiness over-ruled] when I found out that I hadn't finished this one.. chapter 119 really gave me the impression that it was finito. but then again it might've been my sleepiness from many all nighters of manga.. heh.

I laughed so hard the first time I read this. Its so funny, and really enjoyable if you're in the mood for something to make you laugh. I also love how the romantic aspect of the manga is kept quite low; its nice. I really do hope it stays low, personally.

The last arc (Christmas party), was kinda boring, but this new arc seems to be promising. I can only hope the author does good things to it.

Overall, its a hilarious and fun manga. A Definate read if you feel like a good comedy with a female lead.

Totally Awesome Beyond Words!

EDIT: I still think this is the best Shoujo manga out there. If you've READ almost all the supposedly "good ones" out there...none of them can compare on how much one gets dragged in the story. I guess one just needs patience and pure feelings of a true-fan to appreciate every little detail of this wonderful series.

I agree with oblique. ='o This manga is totally worth the all-nighter! Hahaha! xD
And you can reread again and again and not get tired of it! x'p
I know, coz right now, I've read it for the third time, from the first chapter to the latest chapter and thinking of rereading once more!

I don't understand what you others say that it's one typical kind of shoujo manga. Well, maybe I thought so too, AT FIRST. But then, I've only read the synopsis of it so I couldn't really tell.
Also, I beg to disagree with some that say this manga, at first was interesting and gets really boring in the later chapters.
NO! It was less interesting in the first couple of chapters, but gets totally exciting after you read pass the first volume, and once you get passed the next volume you're totally hooked feeling like you'll die without reading the next chapter! Hahaha!
I've pulled an all-nighter when I was starting this because of that. To think it was just some typical shoujo manga. Coz I've gotten tired of the same 'ole, same 'ole. I was pretty glad to come across this one.
I've gotta say...this has pass beyond my expectations of this manga. ='o
And I sure hope when the time comes that it ends, the mangaka gives it an uber awesome ending! Not like Tokyo Crazy Paradise. ^^;

So I say, you guys! You should read this manga! It's true that it's ONE RARE kind of manga! Not like the others that's ALL ROMANCE and not very realistic when it comes to growing relationships.
In this manga, even in Tokyo Crazy Paradise, the mangaka truly gives her all in thinking of ways to make it realistic when making the relationship between the character grows. That's what I love about this manga and the mangaka.
Also...that's not all. This manga is SUPER HILARIOUS!
You've got to have a uber serious bone in your body not to see the hilariousness of this work! ;'p

skip beat is good...it's funny, it has romance...ugh, not so much lately. like many people have said, i wish something would happen between kyoko and ren...i hope the manga doesn't span too long...cause then it gets tiring of reading...

although the drawings of the character are not really nice..but the male character are always very nicely drawn.ren keeps giving ppl a shy on the inside and will fight back kinda feeling.kyoko is a brave kinda girl and innocent too..it is all blamed to fuwa sho,but it seemed like fuwa shou has taken a liking towards kyoko too..when kyoko was acting out as mio..she looks so perfect..in the fuwa shou's pv when she acted as an angel..she looked so pretty.smile

I wrote before how I thought that Skip Beat was a bit overrated...but digging back into this series made me realize..I LIED!

I love this series, I love Kyoko and her curse dolls, heck I even love the slow and frustrating relationships.

To me this is one of the best shoujo out there, and very unique in the way it deals with the story and the main character. Kyoko is a one tough and funny heroine, both in the way she deals with herself and the life she is faced with. This is what I love about skip beat!, as rather than having the romance as central to the story, as with most shoujo's, we are looking at Kyokos development over a period of time as she begins her new acting career. To a slightly lesser but no less interesting extent, we also get see the growth of the two main male leads, Ren and Sho.

If you're looking for a story where the main girl character practically sucks face with the main guy within the first few volumes, you won't find it here. While there is romance, you can see it as very slow and subtle and something that is built up over a period of time. Although the pace of it may frustrate many readers if they are very into the romance genre.

A fantastic manga, and something to definately get into if you are looking for something different. Highly recommended!

One of the best and well rounded shoujo mangas

I found that Skip Beat was one of the few shoujo titles that I've really come to love and sticks out in your head as being exceptional, compared to the many shoujo readings I've downed and forgotten.

For one, the main character is brilliant. Usually shoujo's are stuck with drab, sterotypical uninteresting main characters that are shadowed by their relationship with some attractive guy, not Kyoko. She even dominated the popularity polls in her manga, and while that might seem like a "duh" thing, normally with shoujo the main male characters get the fangirl vote. It's near impossible not to love Kyouko and her demon "hell have no wrath like a woman scorned" routine. She's dynamic, fun, and strong.

Her relationship is unique with her romantic interests. Some people are complaining about "amg nothing has happened" but I digress, I think a lot .has. happened, it's just that they are not "together" yet, which is understandable because they both are growing as individuals, plus her rivalship/friendship with Shou is just as important, if not romantically than simply as people who compel each other to rise above their faults.

The other thing I love about the manga besides the chemistry and comedy, is the fact that the author does not sacrifice character development just to shove in shiny overdramatic romantic drivel. She's actually growing as a person, actor, changing her goals and overcoming her problems as someone who wants to be "better" than she is now. Kudos to the mangaka.

Problem would be the art, sometimes the faces look awkward (seriously, the faces are complete "v's. They din't have a jaw line >_>, I actually am more comfortable with drawing the deformed comedy heads rather than her normal) and their bodies are creepily lanky and disproportionate.

I wonder If editors are going to be mad at mangaka, and cancel the series soon? 19 vols are going round about anything... I like this authors other works, but I sometimes have this creepy feeling about skip beat, that ending will be jumbled...

Don't look at me like that, my fave series are making me worry.
