I picked up this series upon seeing the title--- Tom Sawyer. I wondered if this would just be a manga adaption of the famous Mark Twain novel--and it surpassed my imagination.
First, let me just praise the art the author used throughout the series---It was magical. The art truly blended with the plot and writing, and was a key reason of why I'm giving a 10/10.
The characters are also really interesting, but i will stop here to keep from giving spoilers. Let's just say there are some changes from the original story that the mangaka made.
Overall, the whole story just hit me like a cool summer breeze on a hot day. I really needed this, as it helped relieve my personal stress gathered from life. The best part of this was how it made me remember my past. This entire series was filled with the fun of childhood, and it filled with such nostalgia I sometimes teared up. I can relate really well to the girl in the series--she is also searching for something different.

I had at first started reading this manga because I was interested in the title, wondering how the manga correlated with the Mark Twain's character of the same name. I did not expect to much from the manga, just a light quick read, but I greatly underestimated this work!
Plot- Based off the book "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" this manga has some of the same events as in the book, however it is also very different so it was not just a manga adaptation of the book. There are so many wonderful additions to the plot that made it very unique and interesting in its own right. The plot was well paced, and enjoyable, having a slice of life kind of feel while remaining relatively exciting with unusual occurrences and in the end very edge of the seat.
Characters- The two main character's are very well developed, all the character's are quite well developed. The character's themselves are quite interesting in their own regards, but it is the relationships between them that makes them even more interesting. I really liked Haru as a character, she was very realistic and I enjoyed watching her interact with the other villagers. I just can't find words to explain the wonderful relationships between all the different character's!
Art- It's very beautiful and fits this work perfectly! It's light, airy, sketchy, fitting the slow summer day lazy kind of feel that is the deep undertone of the whole novel, however it also can become light and dreamlike for the times that seem just like that. It also was able to pull off a more darker feel for the times it needed to. The style portrayed the story beautifully, and really added to this manga.
Other- I really can't describe this manga well enough, there's just this... this really wonderful part to it that I can't capture in words! The relationship between Haru and Taro is beautifully innocent, their unique friendship is one of a kind and I really enjoyed watching these two's experiences together. Definitely recommended!
9/10- Was Good

Some of the artwork is quite stunning, but I'll have to wait and see what the story and characters will offer. Overall, I'm surprised I enjoyed the beginning as much as I did. I am very much looking forward to this work, so check it out if you haven't already.
Hmmmm.... Intriguing!

creator of Saikano: sad romance + teen love? + mecha?
Mark Twain: comedy + come-of-age + adventure...
All in all it sound completely intriguing, despite the fact that I hate sappy mangas which Saikano represents
Guess time will tell whether it's good or not
