Interesting idea, clumsy execution

I love the idea of taking things slow, because too many BL works have the confession and the sex in the same scene. But here, the pacing was choppy and I didn't really buy the development of their relationship because neither of the two leads can work up the guts to be honest to each other. Samejima flip-flops in a very weird manner between forceful and incredibly shy, and Sasahara flip-flops between being disgusted about gay intimacy and wanting to tease Samejima. They can't have a conversation without bickering, then act surprised when one of them is too assertive or selfish in bed and makes the other uncomfortable.

Didn't like the chickenscratch art. Sometimes the characters look unintentionally cross-eyed, too.

Lovely!

I love this manga! I never even realized until later in the chapters that Samejima-kun had a minor phobia of germs. Whenever he was around Sasahara-kun he had no problems with sharing his food or drink with him and generally he wasn't agitated by being in his presence, so seeing how Samejima-kun went out of his comfort zone really showed how close they were as friends. They both tried their best to not make their friendship awkward because of the love confession and well... Sasahara-kun was pretty dense throughout the story so that didn't help much. Whenever there was a situation involving them together, Samejima-kun acted so cute and shy and because of that Sasahara-kun always teased him. They had so many fights and the bickering was actually really funny. Seeing them awkwardly develop from friends to lovers was sweet and felt real.

It's true that the plot is overly cliche in terms of friends becoming lovers trope, but this really has such a comedic tone to it that it's worth reading even if it sounds basic. If you love reading comedic stories, this will be your cup of tea. I've seen a lot of people complaining about Koshino's art style and saying how absolutely terrible it is and honestly, i've seen worse. It's not THAT bad. So far, i'm really enjoying her manga. Her style of writing is gold and always makes me laugh.
PS: Listen to the drama CD as you read because holy fuck, the Japanese voice actors do such a wonderful job and man, is it ever hot!

i managed to get my hands on some spanish scans and now i'm super tempted to buy this in english. the plot is nothing new or special by any means, just your normal friends falling in love plot. but the way the characters interact with each other was so interesting and charming and adorable, reminded me a bit of the interactions in Ameiro Paradox except with completely different characters. i loved how genuine the friendship seemed between the mains with them bickering and messing with each other all the time and how the romantic tension slowly crept up on them. short and sweet, i'll add this to my amazon wishlist.

It was alright

I felt like this volume had a lot crammed into it. New information would pop up and although you thought it was something useful to the plot, it was only a little. It was mentioned that one of the boys was a neat freak but because he liked his friend so much, he would even go outside of his boundaries just to be closer. As someone else stated, there was a lack of chemistry between the two and it felt rushed. Without a stable connection that can be felt between the two, the manga can be felt as if it was crammed.
Friends falling in love is a bit cliche but I wouldn't mind admitting that I found a few things enjoyable. Although it is a lot of information to take in, it's still a thick boot with lots of pages. It's surprisingly cute when you think that because they are friends they would know everything about each other but don't even know half of the other. And the art is really nice too. It doesn't look as if the Koshino gave up half way in. I think, though, what everyone wants is the last few pages. Just saying.

Nice take on friendship to relationship

I really like this for showing a friendship developing into a relationship, and how awkward and slow-moving that might be. I like both the characters individually and together, because they're cute and awkward. I like how Samejima-kun is so quiet and nervous a lot but then he suddenly gets over-zealous when he starts talking, and Sasahara-kun seems oblivious at first but at the same time he's someone who accepts things as they come. There are several cute little moments that I thought worked nicely in the story. For instance, Samejima-kun is a germophobe, and at one point Sasahara-kun has started to accept Samejima-kun's feelings but he also can't help playing with him a bit, so he does things like commenting on Samejima-kun's food, and Samejima-kun pushes the food over to Sasahara-kun to eat even though he'd only moments before thrown out chopsticks someone else had used once. He'll step out of his comfort zone for Sasahara-kun in that way, and Sasahara-kun will step out of his comfort zone for gay/straight things for Samejima-kun.

Also, there are short little comics between some of the chapters, and I thought they were super cute. In particular, the ones where Samejima-kun is dancing alone out of happiness due to something related to Sasahara-kun.

The art is a bit different, because the backgrounds/items in it (like the pocky knock-offs) are detailed and really well drawn, but then the characters themselves (in particular their faces) are a sketchier. It does lead to a bit of confusion in a few scenes, where it's hard to tell which character is which because the only difference between them is the color of their hair and their clothing. I found that the expressions/art style took me out of the story a few times, but there were other times it was kind of cutely done. So I think it's mostly just preference.

There isn't really any rape in this story which is a nice break. There are some very minor things where one or the other is kind of forceful but there's never anything anywhere near to what has become commonplace in BL, of one completely forcing himself on the other despite screaming protests. If anything, Samejima-kun is extremely hesitant and shy. (There's actually a really cute panel involving him and a blanket). So that's another plus for this story.

One minor complaint I have isn't to do with the manga itself but rather the publication of it. My copy had some of the word bubbles eaten up by the binding, making it nearly impossible to read what was being said. I don't think they gave enough blank space on the page. Luckily, it's only maybe 3-5 places where that happens in the whole book.

I also found it interesting because the sex scenes are drawn from multiple angles, almost like amateur porn movies or something. I kind of liked the way it mixed things up a bit from the usual BL.

I bought this at akadot for cheap, and overall I'm glad I got it. It's a nice story about two people who are sort of incompetent at love and sort of not, but who remain friends throughout. I recommend it if anything in any of these reviews speaks to you. I bought it based on reviews here and am glad I did. That being said, the art isn't the best I've ever seen, and I really liked the story for the most part but this also isn't going down as my favorite BL manga ever written. However, that might be because I've become rather discerning of late and I really don't know if there are many series that COULD make me love it enough to call it my favorite manga ever.

I kind of wished there was more to this story at the end of it. If there ever were another volume with these characters, I would definitely buy that as well. I liked this manga enough to now want to find other works by the mangaka and try those out as well.

I'm rating it 8.5 because I really appreciate that this story had a much more realistic take on friendship-to-more than the majority of stories with that plot, and because I really liked how awkward and hesitant Samejima-kun was and how Sasahara-kun would laugh at Samejima-kun, and the way they kept getting into silly little fights. I don't have it higher mostly because of the art and some minor other things.

The story is cute, both characters are both simple-minded so I didnt expect any drama or misunderstanding. Its just about two people getting together in a simple way. The story is slow but I like it because they didnt have any experience in love or sex so it'll be weird if they just jump to sex. It has funny and lovely moments. If you are into an innocent and slow romance, this is it.

Disappointed fujoshi

I felt that there wasn't really much chemistry between the characters. The guy who confessed came across as kind of pushy while his love interest just seemed like someone who simply waited for things to happen. It doesn't motivate you to keep reading on.
The art was messy at times especially during foreplay when I couldn't really tell what was happening >< As a fujoshi it really cut down my enjoyment level on the manga.
I do appreciate that the manga does show the difficulty in the friends-to-lovers transition, but the characters definitely need more charisma to attract readers.

I was kinda disappointed

I bought this manga and the manga Same Difference by Nozomu Hiiragi on Amazon for some 21$ or something like that. I didn't mind buying them because I really wanted to read them and I couldn't find them online. So I read them. I was disappointed by them both! But this manga I think it was lacking emotion. Tree were a few pieces of good dialogue but mainly Infelt like the characters were oddly undeveloped. I guess it is just because I have read some yaoi manga that is about one friend confessing to another that just so happened to be way more captivating and full of emotion so this seemed to just fall short of my expectations for the book. I mean it was a quick read and I think that some will thoroughly enjoy it. Just don't expect this to be your latest manga that you can't get out of your head because this is the sort of manga you read and forget for lack of a better way to explain it, it was mediocre at best.
