Honzuki no Gekokujou is... alright! My enjoyment, as with other reviewers was severely knee capped by the emotionally turbulent and inwardly focused main character. Her family, who she apparently loves dearly, is living in what appears to be abject poverty. But, despite all the earnings that the main character receives for pulling knowledge from her previous life out of her ass, they don't appear to undergo any appreciation in their material conditions through out the story... I will also agree that the main character does not read as hugely intelligent (which is noted by the story itself) as she frequently does not learn from previous mistakes. Her biggest misstep is the continual undervaluing of the intellectual property of her previous life, with her frequently earning only a few gold coins when it is noted by other characters in the story that she could have certainly got more. Fair enough not having a personality that is suited for wringing out the possible capital from every situation, but your family is certifiably impoverished!!!
I also have a personal gripe with the characters obsession with books. Really? Do obsessional, voracious readers have a fetish for "books" as some nebulous physical concept? I don't think so. Generally people have preferences for genre and content, not to just simply READ ANYTHING WRITTEN DOWN ON ANYTHING REMOTELY RESEMBLING A PHYSICAL SURFACE. She literally has the aim to produce her own books. Who on earth wants to be surrounded by just books that they have written? I would have much preferred if this character had an obsession with "knowledge". It would have fit perfectly fine with the narrative of the story with only minor tweaks required and it would also explain why she has so much random knowledge of manufacturing processes despite living in modernised Japan (but then again, she reads "books" doesn't she xDDD)
My feelings do trend positive with this series though and I enjoy the small moments like seeing peoples reactions to her random little inventions and the side characters generally.

I am totally Agree of @PZcolo. The Female lead is Selfish and her Obsession of Books is really Bad She didn't give a sh.t for her poor family She just only thinking about how can I read a book again Her Goals is only for herself she didn't have to get an idea of how she can help to her family its really disappointing fact about her she is really selfish and when her father and sister think that she is a burden that's exactly true!
It's OK, nothing more.

I liked the premise, a lot. But the pacing is really weird, and the characters and dialogue don't really grip me. After reading 33 chapters it feels as if the story was still at chapter 5. Can't really recommend it, sadly.
Disappointed

Had hopes for this one but the MC is a annoying, it's ok for kids to be capricious and selfish but she's an adult, the only thing she knows how to do is cause others problems and complain. I mean she's an adult that has read tons of books, how come she's not able to adapt to situations? and how come she's so dumb? you can't read essays if you are stupid so she shouldn't be yet that's exactly how she acts, dumb and conceited. Ej. the family has no money at all, they are making candles and she wastes herbs to make the candle smell better, a relatively intelligent person would notice that the family is struggling to get by would prioritize economizing instead of smell. I heard someone say that people that read fiction have an easier time getting into other peoples shoes and I agree completely, she should be able to do that with all she allegedly read, guess she didn't read even one book with a poor character, eh?
Also, with the incredible amount of knowledge she has she could really help her family, take the shampoo for example, she can sell that easily and make some money, yeah, she's a kid and no one will take her seriously but she can try or at least think about it
So yeah, pretty much what @yenda says, how she doesn't give a damn about her family's situation, is by far the worst thing. Her book obsession, perversion lets say, it's excessive but I can accept that, that's what moves the story after all, but it borders on drug abstinence, can't she focus on growing up, learning to read and gaining knowledge so that in the future she can make or get books? nop, "Give. Book. Now!". I don't see a grown woman in the body of a child, all I see is a spoiled brat.
So yeah, a let down, I'll keep at it a bit more but have no longer hopes for this.
By the way, why does she write in Japanese? is she trying to get burned as a witch or something?

The beginning was interesting but as the chapters get scanlated her obsession with books is starting to get annoying. She knows that in the new world she lives in she is a commoner and her family is poor, why would she think they could afford a book? That world is also nothing like her past life with the abundance of books, so it confounds me as to why she persists on dumping her obsession on her new family's shoulders, specially her older sister. It feels like she doesn't give a s**t about them, their only worth is based on how close they can get her to a book. To be honest, for someone who claims to have read a ton of books about anything she could get her hands on, she's kind of stupid. This character does not come off as someone who is well read, so it makes me wonder about the books she claims to have read. I truly hope this gets better because there is a ton of things this girl does that should be alerting to her family and friends, and yet no one but her sister questions why she seems so knowledgeable after getting sick. By the way, I am starting to think that this is a story about an addict, because all her actions read like a list about drug addicts.
Great start!

In the first place, it's about a non-standard character on a non-standard quest. That kind of start always opens up possibilities that are outside what is possible in the usual manga settings—e.g., hero or heroine translated into a game and having to play it for real. And the medieval-style setting has great potential to be fresh too. I'm following with interest, and pleasure, given the high-quality art.
