Undeniably one of the few shoujo with mature characters
by crystalhikari

Rating: 9.0  / 10.0
I adore how this shoujo put it all of those tropes and concoted a wellzpaced story with characters who know how to communicate.
Ririko was not the typical blushing shoujo lead with nothing but romance in her head. She is hardworking and responsible. She was also not dense and not a damsel.
Minato could come off as the typical rich, cool boy, but he is not a jerk. He is mature and respectful.
Aside from this, there was no drama about their families going against them and they just nurtured their feelings for each other in their own pace. The ending was also satisfying.
Give this manga a chance if you are up for a refreshing read.

Good final volume

Rere hello is the story about a poor girl and a rich boy who gets cut off from his parents (kind've). Now it starts normal enough of a girl meets boy story. Poor chick rich dude type story. and of course classic story about the MMC having some mommy issues. What i liked about this manga is that its pretty much what you get. The author gives us some good moments in small but consistent quality. The drama i think its handled relatively well. Despite it being little of in the first place. At least little if you compare it to the average shonen. This manga is also a dating series. So the romance actually is much better than i expected. and it has some great moments romantic wise. I just feel like there was no Ompf moment in this series, where it really clicked with me despite the romantic moments but at the same time. I don't think this series dipped in its quality either. A consistent kinda fun series. However this stops at the final volume. because the final volume is where the author goes ham on the series. I've always loved the whole we've come a long way and they do this mini flashback of how they met. But the author's strongest point the romance also is really well and in fact better than the past 10 volumes. Though the past 10 volumes also had fun romance. Overall I think this series did a good job without sacrificing quality. Despite it lacking any epic moments till the last volume.

7/10 Worth reading for the final volume as well as the well written ending.

Sweet

Riri and Minato are very likable. She is energetic and hard-working, she faces everything head on! Minato is the aloof, but gentle type that is in most shoujo. But, he is also very mature and respectful. They make a lovely pair. One of the best manga couples! Riri shocked me because she was so easily embarrassed, but she became a woman in the last chapter. Oh-hohoho!

The side characters are also great... except for Aoi. She cried way too much. Serina was also annoying at first, but gets better once she gives up. But, Rui, Saiki, Kozumi, etc. were lovely.

Hata and Tawa were also a great pairing. I've seen people hating on Tawa cause she is possessive and lashes out. But, I understand her. She was afraid of things changing and growing up. She didn't want Riri to have a boyfriend or for Hata to "confuse" her by confessing. Tawa was always in love with him, but afraid of moving forward. Hate is a gentle giant, patient and sweet with her dramatics, LOL. I wish we could've seen more of them.

The slice-of-life chapters are the best, IMO. Like the babysitting Kozum's sister or when Rui found the cat or vacationing during the summer. Also loved all the Tawa/Hata chapters.

Lovely couple

I love this couple! it's refreshing to have a sensible girl and an experienced guy who isn't pushy. The downside is the translation (my apologies to the scanlators), since sometimes it doesn't make sense and you have to guess what was meant to be said. Hopefully this series will be licensed in English.

The characters were so loveable, the main characters were so cute and there was not much drama. I would say it is a good read specially in the Shoujo because the parents were not against them, no romantic drama and the MC were mature and the girl didn’t cry for everything. So I would say read it! I was more annoyed by the other characters than the main characters, she was adorable and the guy was totally good to her he was not mean to her from the beginning. I would say read it!

There ARE misunderstandings, but...

A lot of people are saying that this manga's key refreshing point is the lack of miscommunication. However, as much as that would be absolutely lovely, that's just not true. There are plenty of misunderstandings and a lot of miscommunication, BUT!

But, BOTH of the protagonists are level-headed, mindful, patient, and never quick to come to conclusions. They both truly care for each other, and therefore despite the misunderstandings, remain strong and determined. Both protagonists are amazing people: kind, compassionate towards others and each other, and good friends. Ririko especially is incredibly strong and pure-hearted. They both make the "drama" aspects of the manga very bareable. So, despite having a few moments where you shout "ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!" and feel like flipping a table, you wanna keep reading :3.

This is a nice manga. It's certainly a shoujo, but the author purposefully redirects classic cliches which makes for a rather refreshing plot and fun story. Above all, the characters make it worth it.

Refreshing! If you're looking for communicating, mature characters, read this manga

Finally, a shoujo couple that actually communicates with each other. None of the hiding-something-from-SO-to-avoid-misunderstandings-but-it-does-anyway. The only time I ever felt frustrated with their inability to show the urgency of talking was during their confession.

I don't understand what everyone is saying about it being cliche or it had a great start. Cliche isn't necessarily a bad thing, as long as it's done well. And it was good all the way till the end. You understand all the things they go through in a relationship. After reading so many shoujo manga for years, it's so refreshing to read mature characters with all the cuteness of shoujo! I'll be reading more of this author's work.

Innocent Love

This story is about a girl who is really sincere, helpful and innocent. She's down-to-earth and she acts like a normal schoolgirl with a hardworking trait. She meets this guy which is a bit typical - he is aloof but is equally as innocent. The romance is budding, but it's not going too fast nor too slow. I like the pace the author is going and the direction that she's going - hope she pans it out well so it will keep the readership interested.

Mature, down to earth characters

And a very calm and overall soothing feeling sort of ran through me after I finished with the 6 chapters that are out right now. It's interesting coz it's developing at a very relaxed pace, no constant blushing nonsense or anyone being overly aware of the other party, just cute exchanges and funny dialogues here n there. But that also means doki doki is at an all time low in this... SOME romance/tension needs to develop soon to keep me hooked I say!

very likeable characters, great remake of a cliche story

The main character is very likeable, which is a rare find for a shoujo manga. she isn't a crybaby nor does she always depend on other guys to help her out. I am really tired of typical "strong" shoujo manga girls who are just plain stupid and can't get anything done by themselves. The main girl in this manga is very different, responsible and has a nice character that's not unrealistic. the main guy is also not over the top super perfect rich guy, he has his character developing too at a nice pace. overall, i recommend this manga if you like good shoujo
