Absolutely infuriating

This series is nothing special. Cute, but not special. In fact, the main character was tolerable for 8 volumes. Then, in the 9th, I began to really hate her wishy-washy, weepy whiny character.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
She suspects her best friend, Itsuki, of harboring a secret crush on her boyfriend (Nachi), and is intensely jealous to the point of arguing with Itsuki. Itsuki is absolutely furious, because Itsuki has always liked Mike (since the first few chapters, even), who just didn't notice it (well, not really Mike's fault though). And then Itsuki just forgives her. In one chapter.

Oddly enough, despite the Itsuki-Mike thing, this series doesn't really qualify as shoujo-ai. Itsuki's issue basically takes a backseat to Mike's issues every time and there is never any interaction on that level. Nor does Mike ever, ever, ever notice.

Near the end, Mike selfishly asks Nachi not to drop out of school to follow his dream, just so she can do stuff like go on the school trip and have festivals with him. She already has a key to his apartment but immediately jumps to the conclusion that she won't be able to see him. So he gives up quitting school for her. Then, when she finds out he won an award and said that he'd become a pro, she immediately feels betrayed, even BEFORE he decides to go back on the promise. She feels like she's restricting his freedom yet continually looks weepy and unhappy even after she's appeared to have decided to let him go. Obviously he's going to feel bad.

Mike is the kind of girl who should be broken up with, because she's the kind which is so paranoid that she takes everything as a portent of breaking up. ARRRGHH!!

It's an endless pattern of Mike seeing or being told something, feeling insecure and/or misunderstanding, and crying/being selfish until her boyfriend or friends do something to fix the problem.

Her only 'redeeming' feature is that

Spoiler (highlight to view)
she helps Itsuki, Nachi, Nachi's brother, a Nachi stalker, and a stabber get over their long-time emotional issues, basically by being selfish, irritatingly nosy (that's not just my opinion, everyone said she was irritating), or getting them into bad/dangerous situations.

The manga's almost over, which is good. It became intolerable...

Not quite right

It started out pretty simple and typical, but for some reason, it kept me dying to know more. This carried on throughout the first few volumes until it was just downright confusing.

and I'm not just talking about the insecurities Mike faces throughout every volume. I do think that those are stemmed from Nachi and it was because of the way he treated her that led to all misunderstanding. Plus, they're young. How mature can 15-16 year olds be? No offence. I used "they're just young" as an excuse whenever I feel that what they're going through is just lame and not realistic.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
So Nachi decides to drop out of school to pursue his dream. Not only Mike, but EVERYONE is acting like he's gonna die/break up with her. Dude, Mike can always see Nachi when she wants to after school, why is there all this drama?

Not to mention how selfish Mike is
Spoiler (highlight to view)
to actually expect Nachi not to drop out just because she wants to see him in school. It's almost like as if there is no life outside of school, and Mike will never see Nachi again after he quits.

I understand that this is fiction, but some parts are just so stupid and predictable that it had me rolling my eyes while reading it.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Mike's (female protangonist) father would TOTALLY stalk her and enter Nachi's (male lead) apartment just because he found her lost housekey to his house. *sacarsm*
for some reason, what I feared actually happened -.-;;

Certain romantic, heart squeeze-worthy moments were ruined by poor execution, but despite that, there were a few "kyuun" bits scattered around xD;;

Finally, what annoyed me was
Spoiler (highlight to view)
how I was SO SURE that Itsuki had a secret relating to Nachi but it mounted to nothing. Plus, the mangaka never really reveals what sort of person Nachi is up to the very end.

That said, apart from unrealistic instances, there are quite a number of believable bits which was what that made me finish this manga in the first place. The way Nachi treated Mike was kind of strange, he is almost like a tsundere character but I could see some realism in this. NOT ALL MALE LEADS ARE HOT, NICE AND PERFECT! XD

Also, I like how Yuuta and Mike went back to normal after "that" incident once they agreed they would. Most mangakas tend to "forget about" how their characters were at the beginning and abandon little titbits that they put in initially, but she kept it running until the end (like how Mike was part of the gardening club, though it reduced in significance as it ran on). The art got better too.

I suppose it's worth a read if you've got the time.

The second-most infuriating manga I've ever read (the first being Fushigi Yuugi). There is nothing likeable about this character. While it's human to be jealous, there's a limit to how much jealousy and selfishness I can read about before I wanted throttle this twit. Worse still, she doesn't even learn from her mistakes. What a waste of time.

can't take it anymore

Augh, I`m already at the last volume but there's just no way I can continue reading this. I`m officially dropping it. If Fuuko from Parfait Tic is tolerable with her indecisiveness and just when I thought Momo from Peach Girl was the worst heroine I've ever known, like wow, Mike is just waaaaay beyond my imagination. I`m just wowed at how the mangaka developed her character and can't actually comprehend with her ideas and what ever she`s just thinking. I liked the previous mangaka's work, Aoi Spice and Ichigo Channel but this is just seriously a waste of time. It was cute and interesting at the beginning but it started going the down the hill when Nasu's friend came out. I`m not feeling the story anymore especially when totally random plot came out such as "shoujo-ai" in this manga. Sigh. No one would honestly see that one coming. But the worst of them all is just how bad.... err worst Mike's character development is. She`s just awfully annoying. If you ever try to finish this manga, I salute you for putting up with Mike until the very end. There's just something about her that you and Nasu saw that I seriously cant =.=

I`ll give it a 4 since I did enjoy it at first.

I can see mangaka trying to be original, but it's not working out. I mean it's too hectic. Some things don't make sense and plot is shreded. I don't want to drop it, but there are better shoujo mangas out there.
If you have time to lose, then try reading this, but there are better manga out there.

This series is your typical shoujo and because of it there are a lot of predictable things but it's still a good read. The art is not bad but i guess since it was a bit old the first volume or two were a bit rough but it gets way better after or should i say the characters become more pretty. Since is typical there were times that of course i wanted to strangle one the heroines, there is nothing i hate more than a heroine that cries over every little thing and is so clueless at everything.

Fluffy manga!

^^ It's a really cute and fluffy shoujo, and the drawing is okay in the beginning but gets better and better as the series progresses (i.e. Nachi looks kind of weird in the beginning, but don't worry, by the second volume he starts to look better! ^^) One of the only things that bother me is that Nachi seems to completely change as the series progresses, and also that the plot is very cliche, where problems resolve relatively quickly and then don't come up again, but... Ah, wells. It's cute, and some parts weren't so bad, really. The point where the manga is right now is quite good-it isn't progressing very fast, but it still has that freshness of a young romance to it. XD

I love Mike and Nasu's relationship. Mike gets jealous easily but she makes up for it by being really cute. I recommand those who don't mind art that isn't really good. Like most manga the art gets better as you read (maybe thats just me). This manga is also predictable but it's worth the read.
