Started off with potential, but...

This manga really went nowhere. I enjoyed the beginning of the manga because it had a lot of tropes that I usually enjoy: protagonists with close living quarters, a relationship that starts off with them not getting along, etc. And also, I found this manga to be quite funny - funnier than your run-of-the-mill shojos. But their relationship never went anywhere. In fact, towards the end, their relationship seemed to get worse. For example, I liked Uehara at the beginning, but as the story went on I kept thinking, "Wow, he's a pretty crappy boyfriend." Not in a "he's possessive/emotionally abusive" way, but in just a "I don't really care about this relationship" way. He did several things towards the end of the series that were just plain cold, i.e.

refusing to watch movies with his gf even while on a date, just deciding on his own to live alone without a real explanation beforehand, etc.
. Of course, the female MC writes all this stuff off with ease and gets ridiculously happy when he shows her any affection (which is rare), which speaks to how dumb she gets over the course of this series.

All in all, it's not a bad series and there were several entertaining moments. But the romance-starved, shallow nature of the main relationship was so lackluster and irritating that it made it hard to get through the last volumes.

The story lost it's hook pretty quickly. It starts with a tantalizing storyline which then does not go anywhere. The characters are annoying and some, outright irritating. Another annoying female protagonist added to my list. The category "Dumb female lead" is quite apt for this manga.

the artwork was forgettable and there was nothing happening. The manga was extremely boring, I fell asleep, I mean eleven volumes full of nothing but crap...I don't recommend it...you'll just waste time you're not gonna get back and besides the boy just acted like he didn't care all throughout...so it's like okay...

At first it was good

Yea it was good at first but reading it further ahead got really painful. Everything was a cycle and its like youre waiting for something to happen, like a closure or that scene to make up for all the troubles, but there wasnt any. Such a headache. Plus there's not enough sweet scenes to make it romantic. So many random things that are not necessary. Its kinda boring. I was expecting more, but i got dissapointed. Sorry. It wasnt that good. Its really a 6.5 for me. Haha

It was such a sweet manga, and I still enjoy it despite its old fashioned artwork. The story was quite enjoyable. The heroine is very cute and the male lead was not bad. The mangaka here, made a very lovely, amusing, series. biggrin

Maybe it's just me, but I adored this manga. It is a bit slow compare to many other romantic shoujo manga but that's what makes this story ... special to be honest. I like how they didn't jump into the relationship and even after they got together, things were pretty much normal. The characters don't change all that much and it's cute because I'm sick of all these characters changing after they get into relationships -__- Uehara is cute, he's pretty much dense, but still cute. Nao is cute too, but she gets annoying at certain point. But it's tolerable (this should be a good thing since I usually can't stand annoying girls in mangas). It's your typical shoujo manga but I really enjoyed it, read it all in one sitting biggrin The reason why I deducted a point was because of the ending. I get why many people didn't like the ending.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
I mean their relationship barely developed ... at all actually -__-

But seeing that the mangaka has made a sequel, I thought that it was fitting and although there's still something missing from the ending. All in all, I really enjoyed it. Very cute but a really light read. It's a real slice of life type of story.

I keep thinking back when I first started the series..thinking of all the possiblities and potential this story had. The plotline isn't very original but at least it was promising for hardcore romance fans..i mean, the characters had a lot of opportunity to get closer and develop their relationship. Well...the plot got REALLY boring and nothing was happening. Some situations were funny but it's nothing really worth noting...anyway ..if you're looking for a true slice-of-life story, this would be it. The couple isn't particularly special, there is no angst, the drawing is unremarkable, and the girl is just dumb!

Even though the ending wasn't as I expected to be, and there weren't that many romance in the story, it was still such a cute series. I'm really glad that the author is making Good Morning Kiss, and hopefully, they'll get marry or something later in the future. I love the artwork, and the storyline is pretty funny. The ending shocked me a little (before I found out that there was Good Morning Kiss), I was really disappointed in how it ended and so on. Overally, it was a really cute manga! <3

Art (10%): 8
The art is just regular shoujo art. The characters aren't exceptionally pretty or ugly nor do they stand out in anyway. It gets a plus for being nice and clean.

Story (40%): 9
The story itself isn't very original (two people live in the same apartment) but at the same time, I haven't read any manga with the same plot done as well. This is one of those non-mainstream manga that many people overlook. This manga is good to read if you want a good laugh.

Character (40%): 9
The characters are mediocre and they don't stand out much. The characters also don't develop much. The good point about the characters is that they are both funny. I also like how the girl doesn't blush in every scene. Although the characters themselves are pretty bland, together they are funny. All of the characters are also likable.

Enjoyment (10%): 10
This part doesn't really need a comment, I just enjoyed reading the story. There were so many funny situations.

Total Score: 9

Good Morning Call

I usually like mangas in which the two main characters are somehow forced to live togethers and this was no exception. It did have a lot of fillers in between and sometimes it's difficult to believe that two people in love sleeping under the same roof alone would not do anything to each other... but it's sort of soft and cute and teenage like so I think it didn't bug me that much.

I wouldn't recommend Good Morning Call as a great manga, but I do think it was cute. If you are looking for an ending in which the main characters show openly their feelings and end up getting married, then this is not for you. If you can cope with soft romance and feelings developing really slowly, then this might be your thing.
