Description
18-year-old Tsubomi has a bit of a weight complex. After graduation from high school, she takes up a part-time job at a video rental store where she is introduced to another male employee, 19-year-old Shiro, whose shifts always seem to coincide with hers. Shiro casually mentions that she reminds him of someone familiar. A few days later, while on duty, she bumps into a customer in one of the aisles. Oh, wow. I haven't left a review for Cousin, have I? I just re-read it for maybe the 12th time. I love this series so much. It's heartfelt and there are so many lines that really resonate.
ETA: I see some comments on the ending. It's a classic Ikuemi Ryou ending -- if you know what that means, then you know it's gonna be kind of vague and to me, in a way that leaves you feeling restless. At first I thought it was something she did because she didn't know how to end her stories despite a gorgeous ride, but that's pretty pompous of me to think. It's definitely her style to give you a Happy For Now/Going To Be Happy One Day rather than a Happily Ever After. Realistic.

The ending is anticlimactic, but otherwise I like the story.

I just think that if a story is about getting prettier, or more confident in one's self, it was either unnecessary for Bon to lose the weight in the first place or it was unnecessary for her to gain it back.
I liked the plot, loved the characters, and enjoyed the artwork. I just don't like how the story ended
It's very great! It was nicely paced and the characters are pretty solid and they do develop (and pretty realistic too) to a better character. It's just that... the ending. I kinda get that it's an open ending but it's unsatisfying... I hope that there will be a sequel or at least an omake where everything is explained
The realism of this slice-of-life manga was refreshing, particularly in respect to the protagonist's see-sawing weight (and the fact that she wasn't suddenly 'drop-dead gorgeous', but was very cute in general, especially as the reader gets to witness her struggles and empathise with them), and also the frank way in which the character's acted towards one another.
I did find that the subtlty of the ending felt a little odd for such a solid, full story, and it did catch me completely unaware at first. I'm still trying to decide if I actually liked that part or not, but it certainly was an interesting and original ending (and Shiro is adorably dorky)~
I do wish there would be a sequel of some sort though. I would have loved to know how things worked out with Bon-chan and which of the men she may have eventually found happiness with.

This is one of the mangas I would never forget but would like to delete from my memory so I could read it again for the first time. I would have given it a rating of 10 but I have certain concerns which you might also have after you finish reading all the chapters. Nevertheless, this is one of the best slice of life mangas out there.
This manga was SO CLOSE to perfect. I adore the art style, and the plot is anything but cliche, and it's all just really enjoyable.

I really liked this manga, until I got to the last chapter.
I suppose you could say that the ending is supposed to be... subtle (maybe)? But it just left me with a strong desire for proper closure. The story just kinda stops.

I started reading this a couple years back. I loved it then, but I have to say, I Love it even more now. It feels so real. I just love it sooo much. It's a must read.

I love the way losing weight + makeup =/= facial reconstruction. She still looks like herself, and I love that factor the most
