My first Josei. Liked it way more than I thought I would.
This series was funny, serious, and quite realistic in a lot of ways. I really enjoyed it. There were times where I found myself laughing out loud or talking to myself . I love the art work. There's something about it that's fits my tastes perfectly. The panels were really easy to read/follow. Sometimes I read mangas where the story gets confusing to follow in parts or the dialogue just doesnít work for me. I didnít have this problem with Happy Marriage. The plot flowed nicely and I enjoyed the dialogue because it felt very natural and realistic.
What I like most about this series is that despite some of the obvious clichés here, the relationship between the main characters developes in a very believable manner. It seems natural and it pulls you in. The relationship is charming and that charm carries the story to the end.
The main characters were great - funny, insightful, cute, etc. I also loved the ensemble cast and getting to know about our heroís past. I think the mystery there could have been a bit stronger, but I was glad that it wasn't over the top. It didnít take away from the story. I think my only issue is that our heroineís father disappears for too much of the story. We donít really get to know much about him except that heís a bit of a trouble maker that means well.
Overall, if youíre looking for a mature romance manga, Iíd definitely give this one a try. It was a lot of fun and I read all 10 volumes in two days.
Surprised that I liked it
I started reading this with low expectations of it being the same standard smutty josei. It's totally different from my expectation, and a pleasantly surprisingly good romantic comedy. Both leads are decent well rounded characters. Although the Chiwa does have her irritating moments of crying I can't help but root for her success in re: to Hokuto. She's plucky and cute and acknowledges her shortcomings. Hokuto, on the other hand I'm surprised to see that he's not the average everyday forceful boyfriend/husband who commands their SO every so often with no regards for their feelings. He does have his moments of that, but it's not apparent or shockingly stark. At least the author makes a focus to show that he's not some perfect rich kid with no problems or flaws. Also one of the better parts that I'm happy about is that he considers the pair as equals and upholds the marriage that bind them.

Although there was one moment when Hokuto threatened raped that was uncomfortable to read. I understand it's suppose to be comedic but still...
The plot is nothing really special, it's amusing and really quick to read. If you enjoy shoujo and smut, go for this.
The ending could have been better. :/

Now Shoujo or Josei manga to me are all about marriage, it is either a couple at the end decided to ortalk about getting married right after they graduate from high school or it's an arranged marriage, this is the latter.
Well well, there was a whole lot of comedy in this. What is this, why are these two people soooo amusing? ^_^ I love it when the two bicker or have couple conversations, like asking the other, "are you ok?" and sort. Just makes me crack a smile all the time.

Hee, wish for another chapter about her being pregnant, getting a baby, both of them looking after the baby, see the kid growing older, etc...that would be so nice, ahh~~~
Great Beginning But Falls Off
The first couple of chapters were hilariously funny with just the right dose of romance. This changed, however, in the latter half; I found myself skimming through the pages. There were still very sweet and funny moments but not of the same caliber as the first chapters.
Normally these issues wouldn't keep me from giving this series a higher score but the female MC (I don't even remember her name anymore) got pretty annoying with her bouts of tears. I don't think there is a chapter without her crying -- she's that bad.
It was entertaining, an easy read as well. I liked the manga...the female protagonist, I wish she would be a stronger woman. I was surprised by the male protagonists 'S sharing of feelings. I don't see it usually in many manga. I'm still not sure about some of his character traits and actions.
If it wasn't so long I would've given it 10, but somewhere in the middle of it I was kinda bored.. I personally don't like very long mangas that are long for no reason. The story was very good at first, but for me it kept deteriorating. I anticipated the sex for long (which is good and I like it that way) but when the sex parts finally came, they didn't end. every chapter just had to end with a sex scene and I find no purpose in that ^^" To me it felt like "whoa wayyy too much smut". I know, I'm crazy! there's no such thing as "too much smut", but these are my feeling for this one. All in all I recommend reading it and at times just skipping the idle parts
A fairly good series if not for the ending

Cute story where the author shows daily interaction of the couple. I like how she emphasized on how they improved their relationship through the arguments and hence, achieving understanding for each other. Generally, I'm pleased with the relationship development of the couple that the author has portrayed, but an omake showing their happy life with a child after marriage would be nice.
The ending is kind of disappointing and in a way, contradicting. The author is too held up on the ideal of a 'happy ending' theme. The male lead, who spent his entire life working his ass off for the company, so as to find his mother's murderer ended up as a commoner. He got stripped off his position and all of his hard work just because of his background. Also, he hated his 'father' all his life, thinking that he killed his mother, yet when he finally knew who is the real murderer, he lets her off without doing anything. -.-

My favorite romance manga
Actually, I love all of Enjouji Maki-sensei works, but this is my "favorite" one and the most favorite romance manga I ever read. The art, storyline, and overall is just perfect that I hope there will be a sequel for this manga. RECOMMENDED ONE XD
Good till the end
Hapi Mari isn't one of those romance mangas that are boring as hell. It's one were you see the ups and downs of a marriage. It isn't one of those that are over dramatized. It truly feels like how a marriage would be in real life. Chiwa may be an idiot but she tries her best in anything she does. so fed up with the yelling stuff.
Crybaby Chiwa who cry more often plus the fights and shouting and the slap she received from her husband twice...
Forget all those things above and this manga would fine enough with 5 volumes.
