Description
Sagishima Takehiko, Hokuto's distant benefactor throughout his growing up with foster parents, is a successful executive. When Hokuto turns 20, he appears in his life in person and turns it upside down in order to groom Hokuto as his successor. But is that all he is, a benefactor? Hokuto wonders whether he might not have a secret reason for his kindness to a supposed stranger. But when he finally gets to ask the question he has pondered all his life, the way Sagishima responds is... surprising.

The characters are so touching!!! The artwork is as usual beautiful!!!
I really like Ebihara-sensei's uke because even if they look young, they are not effeminate.
And the must after really great moments reading it, is the extra that is really funny!!
I can't say which caharacter is my favourite but i'll say that hokuto and steve are really amazing.
Too bad the story is too short.
Go for it I'm taking a third round now!

honestly this manga deserves better! i like it precisely because of the guilt factor tho I agree the people who were suddenly inserted in threw me into confusion and made me wonder if I had skipped anythingconfused-_-

but lets face it, not everything has to make sense in yaoi land ne? there are stories with less plotline getting higher ratings so I dont see why this should not... @.@ again it depends on personal preference. for me i enjoyed this only thing I felt sagishima's lips were a tad too compressed and thin at times and it bothered me!

It started off with a solid story, but then things just got confusing...
And very random when the foreigner arrived.

Too many things unexplained.

you'd think 5 chapters would be enough to tell a cohesive story, but apparently not. we get to see too many characters whose behaviour isn't sufficiently explained. human beings do have an incredibly wide range of behaviours, but several of these characters don't seem real to me. sagishima is the worst -- he cannot love his own children -- ok, shit happens. but why can he then love some stranger based on a single letter years ago thanking him for a present? and even though he's apparently been touched by that person (hokuto), his very first act towards him when they meet face-to-face isn't something simple like shaking his hand, and saying "i am very happy to finally meet you", no, it's rape, and he's generally cruel in his arrogance in turning hokuto's life upside down without consulting him at all about his wishes. hokuto is the typical swept-off-his-feet teary uke; he has a brief attack of feistiness which unfortunately disappears when he comes upon the first obstacle. he bores me. but at least he makes sense -- he's got a serious case of hero worship for his benefactor, and then of course being raped makes him fall in love, *rolls eyes* -- them's your yaoiland rules. sagishima's sons are screwed up, which is no surprise. so what's with steve (the older son)? whyever is he pretending to be sagishima's lover? what's the whole deal with the succession?

the "redeeming" feature is that sagishima is hot. the bois in general are pretty, and the art is pleasant. if you like cold seme who suddenly turn gentle after getting the raping that seems innate to the species out of their system, you might like this. me, i'm left feeling empty. it seems like there are bits and pieces of some serious story meat, but they get shredded by the winds of randomness. maybe the novels this manga is based on make more sense. chapter 5 is totally worthless, some of the characters are unrecognizable, and nothing more is explained.

censorship: annoying ken doll-itis (invisible genitals).

nice and yet kind of creepy

I usually don't have a problem enjoying adult man/young man relationships (quite the opposite) but this one also had a father/son ("Daddy-Long-Legs") dynamic added to it which made things weird. Sagishima might not look it but he's 42 years old and has biological sons of his own- these realistic reminders make it hard for me to accept him as a partner to the 20 year old Hokuto without feeling a little uncomfortable. This is not a serious drama about second chances in life, after all. This is "guilty pleasure" type yaoi.

Also, you would think a 5 chapters are enough to tell the whole story but the narrative is oddly jerky (the story was adapted from a long novel so that might explain it). Sagishima starts off as being a major ass**** (in a sexy way) but then suddenly he becomes a sweet, gentle man. We never learn why he acted that way, why he stopped or even how much of it is his true character. The last chapter of the main story throws quite a lot of new and surprising information at you and I was left thinking "wait... what just happened?".

Still, the art is nice and the story is entertaining. If you believe that you won't be bothered by the issues I mentioned, go ahead and read it!
