the art is nicer than your average shonen, but its uninspired and unoriginal. i bet white people will love this cookie cutter stuff [edit by mod,and the reason for this comment is...?]

I figured i'd go ahead and add my two cents to this discussion of Bleach Sucks vs. Bleach Rocks. First off I suppose i should tell you that regardless of what other people think about the manga, you can have your own opinion about it, so if you're interested in reading it, I would suggest reading up to chapter 7 first, then forming an opinion. And if you aren't interested? Well then you probably aren't even reading this comment about it. Bleach is an action manga, though, like most manga, it has many other genres mixed in with it, you'll find a good dosage of drama and comedy as the two most prominent other genres. The characters i found to be quite varied in personality, later into the series you will find that there are a LOT of characters in it, however, the detail going into the characters and the back stories for them aren't just some piece of garbage the writer made up in about 5 minutes, they're all very in-depth. As for the fighting in the series, due to the supernatural nature of it, there is an almost infinite potential for growth in strength for the characters. As for the issue of villains appearing that become progressively stronger, thats a staple of the action genre. Wouldn't it be quite boring if every bad guy that popped up was actually weaker than any of the characters? There'd be no challenge, nothing for them to overcome, in fact it would take all of the reason out of even having the opponent, whoever it is wouldn't be any more effective than a fly on the wall. I'm going to have to give this a rating of 10, personally its a favorate, though don't let this effect your opinion of the manga too much. I guess what i'm trying to say is, try it out for yourself, and if you love it, fine, if you hate it, thats fine too.

I think the guy above needs help or is blind as a bat because this is one of the good mangas that are worth reading, anyways Bleach is cool ahven't read anything good lately besides this and Eyeshield 21.

Oh its one of those! simply put, this series is just trying to hard to make money, just made to try to appeal to the one type of fan ... thats not always a bad thing but this neglects anything real original, you have seen this before and you will see this again, thats the reality of this series.

I love everything about Bleach. The story, the characters, everything.
It's true there're some shounen manga typical in Bleach, including the main character, Ichigo.
But it doesn't matter since what catches my attention the most isn't the main character, but the 2 villain characters (it's a possible spoiler so I'm not gonna tell you who they are) and the gotei13.

I really enjoy Bleach. The storyline is awesome, the characters i find are not to my liking and the artwork is ok. I still think One Piece is by far the better manga

What the heck is wrong with you people! This is a great series. Of course is just training...getting stronger and kickin butt...but ya know if it were any different then it would be a bad. Man if ya'll want cute bunnies and flowers go watch sailor moon this is shounen action people! my god! Im sorry being based around getting into soul society ans saving Rukia in my opinion WOULD involve getting stronger and kicking ass, if ya'll cant see that then thats just too bad. Loved it..

Like everyone says, there's always someone stronger who wants to kick the protagonist's ass. So how do we rate this then? Analyze the other aspects/features. The graphics are a step up above other Shounen genre such as Naruto or DragonballZ. Yes, I unfortunately have to say I was caught in the whole dragonballz mess, but it has given me a chance to define horrible and average. Bleach offers a common theme of spirits, the underworld, and shinigami. The forces of good battle evil monsters (villainous people sometimes). Overall decent, not great, yet not horrid.

People often consider characters, so I'd have to say this manga offers a variety of characters, not much so as others, but a handful. I can't say I see much more character development than other manga, but the trend seems to be that the main character only gets stronger.

The only problem: this manga is getting too drawn out and appears that it's being milked for profit.

All done before and to my regret Bleach don't even try to be original. Other shonen at least try and maybe they have bad elements.... but Bleach... Bleach doesn't even try to make something new. It's jus Ichigo training a kicking ass to a new opponent and becoming supersayian in 2-3 weeks (read it for yourself).

Maybe you don't mind... well i DO MIND.

And the fact that there are a lot of characters just as fanservice is stupid. Bleach is the finest example of Quantiy over Quality manga.

This is one Awesome Manga, the story, the humor, characters, how its drawn, everything is really, Really great!
I reccomend this Manga To everyone.
