I love this story. There's so much sweetness and humor, as to be expected from Yoshinaga-sensei, but at the same time, there's so much sadness, too. I really like how he/she managed to create such an engaging and emotional storyline. The humorous ending to one storyline killed me. It hurt. xD

it's a really interesting read.. with a captivating storyline and pretty good artwork! the mangaka did a good job at slowly unfolding the past of gerard and weaving it all in over the span of a few years... Sweet and tender... it's a beautiful yaoi romance! must read...

An exceptionally well done manga, and yaoi to boot.

Well, Yoshinaga Fumi's work is always of a high quality, but "Gerard et Jacques" is definitely her best work, in my opinion. It has all the subtlety and character development of "Antique Bakery," combined with French history, romantic as well as political intrigue, and art so expressive that it withstands several re-readings. (And you WILL be re-reading this. Trust me!)

Be warned that the manga contains occasional scenes of explicit child abuse, but they don't last very long and are not tasteless or insensitive. That's about the only warning I can think of giving...

It's rare to come across a yaoi manga that makes sense and is well written. Yoshinaga san seems to have done her research well and knows how to bring out the "atmostphere" of that period. The drawings are not your typical yaoi type style but none the less pleasing to the eye. The plot actually makes sense and so do the character's actions. Highly recommended for anyone who likes their romance sweet.
