cliche but not really.

this is your typical shoujo manga, as in [stupid] normal/avarage girl who fell in love with the prince of the school. plus you add the unrequited love that turns requited. bull's eye. very. shoujo. cliche. plot.

and the reason why i said that it's "not really cliche" is because this manga is not focused on the dramatic side of the relationship. rather, it's your typical shoujo but presented in a comedic way. it's about the ups and downs of a relationship that does not dwell on drama. probably there is, but instead of feeling the angst, you will just brush it off with a laugh which is why i really like this manga smile

Decent enough

It is not bad and is less cliche then the premise holds, as in cold attractive guy x simpleton average girl (though the premise alone is still horribly cliche). Why? Because it's comically centered - there is hardly any real drama. All conflict is eventually resolved rather peacefully instead of dragging on (which is good). This cliche'd premise actually works, but still can't go above and beyond that.

Liked: The characters stay true to who they are. Kyouya is cold but can also be reasonably considerate. It's the same with Erika. She's sort of too eager/ditzy (like a dog) but can also be reasonable by compromising. It's these good and bad things about both of them that make them balanced (somewhat normal) people (as well as making their relationship work).

Disliked: Scattered plot-line = boring. Unfortunately this is what makes it a so-so series. So far the whole of the plot is just using side character mini-arcs as temporary conflict sources and jumping around from random situation to situation. It's sort of episodic and wishy-washy. Since the story lacks dramatic tension (to utilize humor), there's really not much more to go off of. I'm also saddened to see the side characters left in the shadows after each arc... they might as well be main characters! :<

But the story IS solely about Erika and Kyouya - aka "Wolf Girl and Black Prince". So if you like them and them solely, this will do. To me, it's a nice story pass to time with~

getting better...

well if you are not too hung up about the realistic part of the storyline and don't take the characters too seriously, you kinda start enjoying its comical side.

At first i too was disappointed with the characters and the nonexistent character development. I mean she is a dummy who gets herself a jerk and just gets used to being treated like the idiot she is.
But than again, this is kinda just an aspect of the comedy. At first i was a bit sad about the way he treated her and her superficial reasons for love, then started to not care anymore and now i smile about all that stupid stuff.

In conclusion: if you don't take everything too serious and enjoy reading a clichelike but somehow stupidly different manga you can have some fun with this one.

Ehh... annoying?

Typical shoujo. I admit at first, I rather liked it, because I thought the situation was amusing, but their relationship doesn't develop at all, I mean, at some point:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
you would think Kyouya would act like a normal boyfriend, but no, he can't stop treating Erika like a dog, and Erika accepts - likes it even.

As much as handsome Kyouya is, it is not a reason to date him, their relationship is so superficial it's annoying. Erika was kind of endearing at first, but since she accepts the way Kyouya is treating her... she has no self-respect and is just dull.
I don't know why shoujo mangakas keep making stupid main protagonist, ending up with some jerk. They may be handsome and smart but why would you keep dating a guy who treats you like s**t? I wouldn't!

Also, just finished reading Ch23 and this part:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
"If I were to be a Gorilla Man, you wouldn't even look my way, right?" just proved the superficiality of their relationship. Erika only likes him for his looks.

So yes, I'm disappointed with this shoujo, since I generally like the series from Betsuma, this series actually would have suited Sho-comi better imo :c

Nice art, funny story, but I strongly recommend to stop reading at chapter 21 - don't start reading chapter 22. Personally I think that if it stopped there it would be nice ending. With chapter 22 starts a new plot and also waiting for new chapters....

Hilarious & Cute ^^

I love this manga ♥
it is really funny and cute XD the storyplot is really unique smile
Erika and Kyouya's relationship starts off like a Master and Dog relationship where Kyouya treats Erika like a servant and they have constant quarrels (which i find hilarious and cute^^)
Kyouya is this really cold hearted, sadistic guy who really hates girls while Erika is this cute, clumsy and barky girl that really wants to find a love to actually show off -.-
At first, Kyouya seems so cruel to Erika
but Erika eventually sees Kyouya's gentle side as he saves her at certain times while Kyouya realizes how unique Erika is compared to all those other girls who only like his looks
& it's kinda obvious but they fall in love ♥ (Erika gets promoted from dog to girlfriend!! lool )
~ So lateron, Kyouya always appears to be cold and cruel yet he is actually covering his jealousy and kindness towards Erika to perserve his pride and cool
& its so cute how Erika is just begging for affection XD
this story just keeps getting better and better XD Each chapter is filled with hilarious things that makes me ROFL

I CAN'T...

OH GOD. I. JUST. CAN'T. I stopped at chapter eight. Maybe, I will continue someday but that someday is probably not in the near future. I initially tried it because the summary seemed interesting and the art was pretty nice-looking and the girl on the cover didn't seem like a dim-wit--turns out, she is MUCH MORE THAN A DIM-WIT. I CAN'T STAND READING THIS. IT IS LIKE RUNNING THROUGH WATER. SLOW AND DRAGGING YOU DOWN BY EVERY STEP. I am not entertained by this--almost not at all. Urgh. I don't get any joy out of reading this and I read manga for the feelings of happiness and engrossed state of mind I get out of reading well written works--this--THIS ISN'T IT. I feel bored and all I can do is hate on the main girl. I can't even remember what her name is anymore and I just read it. I hate her guts, her personality (or lack thereof), and don't even get me started about her logic, morals, and OHH GOD--HER FRIENDS (if you can even call them her friends). Her friends and her have almost close to no compatibility (save for their also lack of personality and fake-ness). I thought this kind of false friendship would be carried out like it was in Ao Haru Ride, where Futaba finds out that she doesn't need her fake friends and gets herself REAL HONEST TO GOD FRIENDS WHO CARE ABOUT HER. That's it, I have a lot more to say but I don't feel like spending so much time on this. Honestly.

It's okay. Personally I don't like manga where the guy degrades the heroine, but this doesn't annoy me THAT much. Eventhough the guy is a complete psycopath to begin with, he's changing - but the heroine is just the same old boring girl. Usually the heroine have that extra something - that oompht, energy or somethib, but she lacks that. She is just kind and weak and she's clingy too.

Despite that I still think it's decent read and it will probably hit right home for some readers with the SM/master-pet thing. I, on the other hand, wonder how far this story can go? It's a little blah at the moment. Especially with a weak heroine who is so easily satisfied.

Kyouya, you... are surprisingly adorable~

Hmmm, apparently some are not too fond of this but I, for one, truly am. Sure, some scenes maybe cliche (not most okay? XD) but I just can't seem to stop reading because I am too amused as to how Kyouya reacts to things and the way Erika reacts to how he reacts. XD It's simply hilarious. Every time he opens that mouth of his, you would wonder if he's being sarcastic or not (but apparently most of the time he is) but let's cut the dude some slack, he's pretty tired of all these girls falling for his looks all the time (being called as a prince, I can only imagine how annoyed he truly is to the point he needs to put an act as one, either that or he has a LOT of free time bigrazz ). Now I know that might sound like a typical shoujo plot but once you read it, you'll realize there's more to it in store for you.

At the very least read it for Kyouya's menacing face when he's annoyed at everything. The last thing you'll know, you'll find him (and everyone in it) really adorable despite his attitude problems. He has his moments, you could say. wink
