This series seriously deserves to be a tradegy. The ending was obviously something that the author just patched together to make it a happy ending. I think he just should've left it off around the credits; it would have given the series a better feeling overall. Overall, though, I actually enjoyed this series. I've never read a horror manga to the end before, and I was seriously impressed by this one. It's not too lovey-dovey, and the attitude that I've assumed overall with this series is a good one. This manga is the first horror manga that is one of my favorites.

Just finished this a while ago.
I don't really understand what's so good about this.
On one hand i finally understand the meaning of yandere with Yuno, and the 7th have a nice endearing story, so does the 8th. Oh and the 9th is pretty cool.
And on the other hand all of the rest is pretty shallow and pointless.
First you have the protagonist drawn in shorts. Really? He couldn't have pants? In colour it looks even worse.
Then you have one amazing theme in the story: the future diaries. And it seemed that the mangaka was pretty clueless to how grand of a manga could have really been written. No implications about the future and how the diaries can mess with time and reality, at least to the point where it doesn't go into a deeper meaning. When you have such things created and use them just to draw action with no reflection it just shows that the plot is rather shallow. As shallow as the main character who is just a coward and cries all the time no matter what. Let's not forget that his actions before the plot starts make no sense whatsoever. At least Yuno as some sort of excuse, but Yuki ends up so full of contradictions that i sighed all the time. The notion of parallel universes could also have been expanded and discussed. You know nothing about most of the schemes going on with other diary users, the main force of the manga.
Then you also have the manga expanded to unnecessary lenghts just to bring a rather weak ending.
The explanations are just so few, the reflections about life so near absent and the characters so useless that makes me wonder just how this manga has such high ratings.
Bokurano does a much better job and has more interesting characters, it's just much more deep.
Overall this is just mediocre.

I seriously liked Yuno's character, her insaneness along with her love for Yukki was just so sweet! Although I say that, I can't but wish Yukki ended up with Akise. I was hoping that near the end, Yukki would listen to Amuse, and they'd kill Yuno together and live happily ever after. What can I say, I love yaoi and shounen ai! Sure they had a kiss scene, but i personally think it wasn't intense enough. Yukki didn't to seem to think much of it.

Well, I kind of liked the idea of the future diary, wich were original, and the cast of twelves diaries holder who have to fight to survive, but I hated the end... I think the author just forced it. But the lovable characters, the funny situation and the fact that the hero is a no good boy were fun.

with only 59ch, you can finish this roller coaster ride less than 5hours, and that's the best way to consume this manga. plot wise it is good, generally the sequence of events are understandable. however, if you like to sweat the small stuff you will not like this manga. theres a lot of unrealistic happening (within the frame of the manga's reality) such as 14 years old be very very good handling guns and knives without training, or bombers able to set up bombs so easily without anyone noticing. but regardless, the plot is good. i love the characters and the star of this series is of course the yandere yuno. she basically pull this series to a better and greater level of enjoyment through her obsession and craziness. yuki is a cry baby that spill tears in every panel but he have a certain 'shounentistic' charm with his ideal world vision and friendship declaration. the twist at the end is also surprising and make you sit up. and the ending is also fairly good.
all in all, this manga is definitely for anyone who like crazy characters and survival games. but for people who dont like unrealistic stuff (ie able to walk with severe blood loss....) give this a miss beacause theres a lot of stuff that just dont mesh.

A great reading.
The characters are interesting. With Yuno and Akise being both pretty amazing. And I liked Mao and Hinata. They both are so cute.
The plot is great, suspenful, a truly exiting and enjoyable ride!
And the end... well, its good. Maybe its not the ending that I wanted, but its good.
If you want a entretaining, quite dark lecture, go and read. I loved every moment of it.

I would wanted some MaoxHinata scene in the end... *pouts*
And of course, with Deus Ex Machine as a character. What kind of ending where you expecting? =D

'Cuz you gotta be smoking something. Am I the only one who hated Yuno? It took me a few chapters to start rooting for that "frickin' prostitute" to die already.
MN is... flawed. I've heard a few people compare it to Death Note. It's a looooooot easier to read than DN, though. But it's not as intelligent/thought-out. It had a couple of interesting turns, but it was a pretty standard execution with an original idea. Don't regret reading it; will probably never re-read it.
Especially not since that phallus-gulping male entertainer is in it. HOW CAN YOU ROOT FOR SOMEONE THAT INSANE? Gasai Yuno should've commited suicide in chapter 1; a fitting, pathetic end for a pathetic, insane crybaby.
(Props to the mangaka for making a thoroughly unenjoyable character. It might sound counterintuitive, but it actually means he did good.)

the plot of the story was really good and the ending but , to tell the truth I'm actually gross out of some part. Mostly that yuno sign what a creepier. Still i only like 9 anyway and that other guy. So i really didn't care about the main characters.♥
The romance is FANTASTIC! Better than any shoujo out there.

The plot was really quite standard. It's a typical shounen manga, with one exception: the heroine. I love Yuno, her insanity and her obsessive love. The beautiful (albeit twisted) romance in this manga makes all other shoujo manga romances pale in comparison with this one. Sure Yukiteru doesn't deserve the brilliant Yuno, but in the end her love was requited. That's what counts.
Since the romance was so fantastic, I'll rate it 10/10. Also a 10/10 for Yuno's sociopathy.
