Judging a Book by it's Cover

I personally think this story is cute and imaginative, with well written plot devices and good art. I personally do not have issue with the mother, however, notice many people instantly assume everything about the character from one chapter. Don't get me wrong, I'm not homo-phobic or anything crazy like that, but seriously, how many mangas have you read where the first chapter tells the whole story?
Probably not many.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Down the road, it is elegantly stated that her fear of men is a Trauma from childhood. Secondly, if anyone were to be afraid of one gender, it is highly likely that they would begin to search for love within the other gender. Third, the early girlfriends before the trauma were from when she was just a child. How many children do silly things like that at that age?

It frustrates me when individuals get upset about a lack of an open mind, but they themselves are jumping to conclusions, and won't listen to any other reasoning of the situation. If that's not the definition of close-minded, then I don't know what is.

Sorry, but the whole 'cure homosexuality' theme is deal-breaker for me.
I tried to pass it off as 'comedy' and I read several chapters afterwards, but in definitive it made me cringe too much, and I had to drop it. And I'm not even fundamentally in disagreement with x0mbiec0rp's review, saying that her repulsion of men seems to be indeed the result of some trauma, and not of a genuine attraction to women, which could make the situation a little more acceptable. But the way it's put... Idk, it just pissed me off a little. I'm probably overreacting though, I guess I'm biased on this subject...

It started off ok, but it only got worse...

Right now I've made it to Chapter 7, and *sigh* I just can't seem to read any more of it. The more higher up on the chapters, the more filler seems to come up. Like per character that is supposed to make up the end result, there is supposed to be a chapter on them?

And there is completly no romance in this. Maybe in latter chapters, but all I see right now is an abusive guy who likes to exploit peoples weaknesses and use it on them.
Also, did I mention the homophobia in this? I'm seriously starting to get a bad taste in my mouth. I mean seriously from Maria Holic (and the little I saw on it) to this, what is up with Japanese manga/anime and these lead males becoming meaner if the main girl character likes other girls?
More violence seems to be put forth on lesbian women, then on gay men, it seems to be? Anyway, the main male character is horrible. He is a tyrant which hits her most of the time (Even beating her up in this one place, in where they are playing dodge ball, and he kicks her, etc. etc.)
I know some aspects of this manga were meant to be funny, and people would say "oh but it's all for humor". But it failed on that regard. The only way someone could find this humourous is if they think abuse is funny, and ok, and that to degrade people that way is fine. I can take a joke, and I even think some funny giant hammer to the head (etc.) moments are funny, but when the other person is just a low down little creep like this guy, it stops being funny. (if this manga was to begin with)
Not Recommended.

i'm not much for the whole 'lets cure homosexuality' theme. originally i thought its gonna be one of those usual gender benders, and the main character just hates guys.
its ok for now, i just hope it wont go to the predictable way of her realizing her hatred for guys is a trauma from the past, and then 'so i actually... dont hate all guys' and off she goes marrying into a doctors family to be a princess.

Waiting on the Ending

Pretty entertaining smile I only have one worry. That is, the main character has to stay homosexual. I will get so pissed if the author makes her fall in love with a boy. That would be a total cheat. It would also be offensive because it would validate the mom's attitude. However, as long as that doesn't happen, it's all good smile So, the end is going to be important in my final eval of this.

Edit:

Well, I put this on hold until I could find out what the ending was, and now that I've looked at the spoilers I can say that I won't be finishing this. Comic as it may be, it is propagating certain stereotypes which people will absorb and take seriously. In fact, it may be all the more devastating in its effect for using humour to deliver such messages.

The main premise offends me though. Treating homosexuality as a disease to be treated - not cool. If you want to enjoy the manga, don't take it too seriously and it'll be an entertaining read.

I agree that this is a change from the usual gender-bender shoujo stories out there. I love the art, and the story... Is it really just 4 volumes? It hasn't been fully scanated yet and I hope that the mangaka didn't rush the ending. sad I'll give it a 7 for now

This is so much better than stuff like Hana Kimi, Power, etc (not that they are bad or anything). I also like the lack of romance in this. It's a change from the regular shoujo gender bender.

After reading a few chapters, it does do a good job of getting the whole jist of the manga going. However, it does start quite slowly. Hopefully by the end of the second volume, things will pick up a bit, but so far the only thing that really gets this manga working is the whole "bishounen" aspect of it. To those of us whom are immune to just plain boring 'good looks', however, it doesn't seem all that interesting.

However, though it starts off slow and boring, it seems to be picking up a bit. It's not just some random shoujo manga, for you guys out there, and they (thankfully) have started to move away from the all the vomiting going on by the main character. As of Chapter 7, character introductions are still going on, but at least it doesn't rely on the same gags anymore.

Here's hoping that it starts to pick up and actually start its storyline soon. For now, however, I cannot really give it a high score at the moment. If it picks up, however, I'll probably raise the score.
