This series is pretty good, and I want to thank the many groups over the years who worked to put this scan out. You guys did a very good job with it, and at the end the releases just left me wanting more and more and more. >_<
The art doesn't really change throughout the series, the evil people still are super-evil, and when Shou snaps.. I love how he is depicted. This series also carried a pretty impressive message, and while sometimes it was lost in the backtracking, and sudden flashbacks, it was still decent.
The reason I gave it an 8, is because it does get lost at times with flashbacks, it does get a bit repetitive at times, and a few other minor issues that the series has. I couldn't go lower though, because it sticks to the plot given until the end, and even when it appears to have jumped the shark, it all comes full circle with a hasty explanation.
Enjoy the read.

It might not make a lot of sense in the beginning, and it might get repetitive but the plot picks up and thickens into a very well made story. The last forty or so chapters are nail-biting, and the conclusion is fantastic. A must-read.
Perfect....

The only word there is to describe it. Absolutely perfect...I can't find a single fault. I'm so thankful to the scanlators for picking this up and actually giving us the opportunity to read this. If this ever gets an english publisher, I'm definitely going to buy it!

This series.... is great. I like it because Shou never really loses his sense of humor, even in the end. Plus, this made me think, and was a little softer on your moral conscience than Death Note.
I wish I could read Japanese better, because it seems Shou has a really unique way of talking(he is always identified by it) that must be hard to translate.
There's probably still more of them out there still. You know, the Shou's. Hazama was only contacted two months before the start, right?

Spoiler (highlight to view)
I think it would be very interesting if a profile of all the Shou's was made, of their lives before Akumetsu. I mean, they were all people with different goals at first, right?

It's a really great manga! At first it was just 'rather good' and didn't make much sense to me. It just had great art, some cute girls and some really intense action scenes which didn't make sense at all.
But then the story intensifies and becomes a lot more interesting as it's explained...
I recommend it strongly!

Great! Suprisingly deep story in somewhat apocalyptical setting

I took this title to just read some seinen, fighting off disappointment that Team Medical Dragon is translated only to 60+ chapter and wanting to put my mind on something else.
At first Akumetsu seems like a flashy gory shounen full of nonsense. I've kept reading simply because I liked stuff about corrupted government, which fit perfectly in that of my own nation's. And then, gradually, all that over-the-top crap started to make sense, and a brilliant story unravelled,
I've stopped at chapter 130, will definitely be back in the future when enough of unread chapters will gather.
Akumetsu is not for kids, it's a good and gritty story, reminds me a bit of Boondock Saints in way of us dreaming to fix that rotting world of corruption and evil. It incites burning anger that all those scumbags out there keep leeching life out of normal people and remain above law and justice, untouchable. Akumetsu them!!!

It is a bit repetitive but has not lost its touch yet. The puzzle is being revealed slowly to keep the reader's interest up and that should have been the case from the beginning of the Manga.
Anyway, quite interesting, but I hope the story will warp up soon, as any further branching will make the story loose.

Before anyone goes crazy- 6.4 is actually a decent rating coming from me (when all of the manga on my lists are combined and averaged it comes out to around 4.8, last time I checked).
Anyway, there are a few good things about Akumetsu. It's clearly written to be thought provoking, and I actually quite like the way it addresses several intellectual concepts. The art is decidedly average, but it suits the environment well enough, especially the intensity. The real issues I have come with the excess of gore/violence (most of which is simply gratuitous and totally unnecessary), and some of the storytelling which I find to be often ill-paced and generally lazy. I suppose I'm just not the target audience when it comes to the violence, so I can overlook that, but the storytelling still gets me. In an attempt to seem more mysterious, suspense is vastly overused as a device which causes the plot twists to gradually become both predictable and mundane. Additionally, the way the author introduces more characters, and scenarios in general, is pretty formulaic. I can't help but occasionally feel that I'm reading the same thing over and over.
All that said though, this is a decent series, and worth the time to read for the concept alone.
