on the whole, awsome.
i think its one of my favs and it left an overall good impression. only things i didnt really like is that some parts were a bit too dramatic (dont remember which parts), the relationship didn't seem that strong - i think thats where i think it was too dramatic - it dragged along for a bit (but still addictive), and lastly there wasnt much change in other characters that the main characters, like Nao...
~ BUT i LOVED IT! it was quite original, IMO. the story plot twist was surprising. and i luv OMG surprises (the interesting + not-too-sad-sort) i wish there was more cuteness or signs of deep connection near the end tho..

I swear this is my favorite manga ever.
I might be a bit biase, seeing as it's one of the first animes that got me to be the addict I am now, it might be the long long wait for me to finish the story (started watching in 4th grade... didn't finish reading manga until 10th grade.), it might be that I was at an age where I could understand the characters really well when I first started reading it, but regardless of that, the plot goes at the perfect rate, the character development is nice, the characters themselves are awesome to begin with, and the storyline is beautiful.
The only thing people can complain about is the art... which isn't even bad in the first place, just not 'gorgeous'.
You experience countless emotions reading this, and it always leaves you wanting more (I read it all together when I got my hands on it.)
A must read!~

After getting off the "Fushigi Yuugi" phase back in 5th-6th grade (now entering 10th), I picked up Volume 8 out of no where because the cover looked adorable. A girl sipping her pop and a hot yet serious-looking boy in a cap standing next to her made me think that this is probably a cute manga to read. After the first page, I felt stupid that I didn't pick up the first volume but the art drew me in so I kept on flippin the pages. I knew nothing about the manga however, I finished it even though I was confused. The next day, I went back to the bookstore and bought Volume 2, 3, 4 and so on. (They didn't carry Vol 1 XD) I'm so happy that I picked up Kodocha out of curiousity! The story is overflowed with humor and tragedy. Sana-chan and Akito-san were in the same grade as I was so you know I felt happy that a mangaka decided to draw her characters in elementary school <3. I've read countless manga's since then and I must say, this will always be my favorite. No matter how old I get, I can always open Vol 2 and laugh my butt off then end the series with eyesockets full of tears. I admire Obana-sama so much after finishing Kodocha. Akito's story inspired me to live <3

i thought the manga was decent at it's best. it started of really funny and interesting in the beginning, but ended horribly imo. the whole manga was great all up until the 9th volume where sana had this "sickness" which made the manga boring, and made the other volumes totally irrelevant. art was great being it was made in 1994 i think. i give it a 6/10

At first, I thought, "What? Children-type shoujo?" Usually, shoujo deals with teenagers, raging from 14 to 16 years old, who is in middle high school, so I did not give Kodocha a chance even though many recommends it. It must have been a foolish instinct telling me 10-volumes of manga about children is just a waste of time. At the very end, after looking for shoujo manga in my spare time, I boringly give it a chance.
And I was dumbfounded!! I can't believe I see a 13 year-old kid cool and hot. Hayama Akito is a bad-boy eye-candy. And their love story is great. I was so touched...

Funny and cute -- very traditional comedic shoujo. The characters do seem to develop a little. It is not outstanding in any particular category, but is all-around good and funny. The artwork will seem a little dated to modern readers, but is by no means sub-par.

i really love the story! It was funny and it was really touching. I cried on this one too. The characters are very young but the situations that they went trough are very mature. two thumbs up >_<

The kodomo no omacha anime was the first series I have ever watched, so I might be kind of biased. However, the manga is awesome, and has a better ending than the anime.

I don't know, why I wanted to have this manga. But I'm happy, that I bought it. Obana-sensei draws very cute and the story is also sweet. I like it. I thought, that the story of elementary pupils will be childish. But I was wrong because of the very serious and sad moments in that story. It has a new, peculiar atmosphere. But it's good!
