Never thought that one day there'll be a fantasy manga better than Berserk. But Ubel Blatt has very good chances to become one!

This manga has all the right elements, but those elements, action, drama, friendship, betrayal, fear, courage, consistency. . .etc., are not done very well. It's just a case of a good story told badly. No matter how good the song, joke, story, whatever, it needs to be sung/told well. Otherwise it fails. This story teller failed.

I think I read up to about chapter 83, and I can honestly say that I remember almost nothing about this manga except that the MC has pointy ears and red swords that come out of his back.

Übel Trite started of ok-ish despite stunts as indefensible rape-service early on and a barely connected volume 0. The series bothered to improve after a few volumes and then got weirdly boring/tame around volume 8 or so. It went on a hiatus soon thereafter, came back and now it is just grinding it´s gears... The art is pretty good but the world building is sub par and i finally had enough after 12 volumes. How many series is he writing at once btw? Does he want to one up LIM Dall-Young? I suggest to go for similar genre entries as Berserk (10/10), Vinland Saga(10/10) or Wolfsmund (9/10) instead which actually feel seinen and not like a shounen power trip.
Update: I opened up the most recent volume in early 2015 to be greeted with a straight out pornographic gang-bang that didn´t even try to be justified by context so the series even returned to the failings of the early volumes and may be a "remake" of Bastard!! in disguise instead of Miura´s timeless masterpiece. I ain't touching that!

Well said, Berserk is a god among insects in manga. This one is taking forever to go nowhere and the fighting scenes are too short and uneventful. Although my review is biased due to the blind rage that anyone would compare a generic shounen to the best manga ever written. I would say read it if you like a generic revenge-emo-guy-with-a-heart-of-gold theme, but otherwise put it on the bottom of the stack and go read Berserk.

Characters = Blows... Koinzel? wtf I wish someone just killed him already...The rest of the crew aint that nothin to give a f*** about either -_-
Plot = Blow/Decent. some twist n turns that are good enough I guess
Art = Decent, clear n clean. Nothin spectacular but still good. Little too plain tho.

Wouldnt give this higher then a 5, havnt gone thru it all yet but got a feelin nothing will ever change in the story nor the characters. Anyways gona leave out my rating until some more volumes, Im pretty much forcing me thru this crap.

Anyways if your the kind that like somekind of wierd action with plain Characters/Plot/Fights... This is good enough for you I guess

This manga is nothing original but it isn't bad. Yes there are a few sex scenes but not as much as some make it out to be. The story, while nothing too great is moving at a nice pace and not being dragged out.

yeah, this one is much better. Some shotakon (or whatever they called) with huge swords everywhere (you know that i mean...). And several lolitas for fun. Just great.

I liked the setting and story, I also liked the art and general style... BUT, there's one thing that ruined it all. There's too much focus on rape and sex. People get raped and we see explicit sexual scenes everywhere. Even if it isn't rape, it's consensual sex. Hell, there's even reverse rape where the mc gets assaulted. Stuff like this could pass and be good in a pure hentai manga with no story that you read to jack off, but in a story where plot and shit matters? No.

I always wanted some sex in manga/novels, between the mc and the main girl/s. Usually, stories from japan severely lack such things. It always grinds my gears when they clearly have a really intimate relationship yet never cross the line, I mean, damn, are they impotent? Even if the author doesn't want to change their relationship and thus the story if it's something like a romantic comedy, it'd be nice if we'd at least get a nice sex scene at the very end, but that rarely ever happens either. But hot damn, there's a limit to what's acceptable. Here we see rape and sex everywhere, it loses its appeal really fast... And really, villains that rape everything that moves and people that even try to rape the mc is not interesting. Keep it under check or just go ahead and write a pure hentai story instead, because that's pretty much what this is.

obviously without the action i would say this is one of the most cliche hentai with harem.
it's just sad with the good idea of heroes gone bad and revenge.
still read it though when i remember.

This manga start out great and a page turner. Such a shame really that there was several element that take me away from this manga.

random sex scene (very annoying) would be better without this and the volume 0 works reverse to put people off than make people read it due to that.

it was good at first after the sex scene decrease and it became more serious,but more problem. It's too fast paced, like how it just time skip the whole war not telling us how it progressed slowly. I often have problem digesting what's going on and was disappointed


I couldn't believe I loved this manga before despite the sex scene, but now..i just pick this up when I am out of manga to read.
