About mangafox, I still can't figure out why they removed Vagabond but still have Ichi the Killer, which is way more sexual and violent. And the reason for removing it was not because of licensing but because of the mature scenes. confused Oh well I have other sites I can go for my "mature" mangas.

Say I Love you is still there. -_-
And why would they get rid of Midnight Secretary?
Just purging every single smutty manga?
And how the hell does the ipad block things. I'm confused.

Got this from a blogger :
Quote
“It’s written by somebody who decided to attack the manga aggregator sites by going directly to their ‘sponsors’ and complaining about child p__n. This one action caused a chain reaction that got several piracy sites black listed from AdSense. Without ad money these sites can’t support themselves. The readers won’t donate or buy memberships. Most sites mentioned in the above link have found alternative sources of ad revenue.

“It’s important to note that going directly to Google would have done nothing. Only those who actually pay for the ads can make the ad software providers act. Those paying for the ads don’t care about piracy per se, but the notion that their money is supporting content that sexualizes teenagers and children and bankrupting the youth of America will motivate them to demand changes in a hurry. They simply don’t know where their ads are appearing but they should be informed, repeatedly.

“I just wanted you to know that there is a way for people who care about the manga industry to fight back. And win. This is the only way.

“But you didn’t hear it from me…”

Conclusion is, the person behind this fiasco is targeting for scanlation sites and the pirates, by telling companies that their ads are supporting child pornography.
To that person, thank you for adding terrible stigma that manga = child porn dead

Ugh... This is so going to turn into the future in Demolition Man... Anything not good for you is deemed bad, and therefore illegal.. The only saving grace is that I'll probably be too old then to give a damn. But it seems like we're heading there inch by bloody inch..

Has MU found another solution yet?

Also I don't even like online readers so I really couldn't care less if those sites got stuff removed. Licensed stuff is known to get the boot from sites pretty frequently. People that have been around a while have seen it happen more than enough times.

And companies paying money for ads on the net deserve to know where it is being marketed. Though it sucks that the program was just removed without any warning(there was none right?). If there was some kind of warning I'm sure something would have been tried before it was removed. I've noticed you need to be logged in now to see pictures of certain manga. Seems stuff switches kind of frequently. Change something and then ask someone if they are satisfied to the censoring changes?

Well certainly it seems like japanese manga industry faces its greatest problem now. I do agree that child porn/PORN is a CRIME but to see manga = child porn/PORN + violence is DAMN STUPID! Certainly SOME mangas contain child porn which really illegal as to say by law but to discriminate the industry(as DAMN Apple did especially in IPAD "http://mangahelpers.com/news/details/369") is making an enemy of the one of japan's biggest industry.

I kinda read some article at yahoo pertaining to "child porn manga" and found the battle heated in 2009 wherein cases of people accused of child porn via manga. And the very interesting I found was this
"http://www.theage.com.au/world/child-porn-row-exposes-manga s-dark-side-20100219-olwo.html"
probably causing the flame to burst causing the series of chain reactions were now experiencing.

I myself as a reader of manga, have read rarely some of these they so called "child porn and pure violence" in manga viewing sites but to categorized manga as a bad material(IPAD case) to wherein even action/battle mangas were classified as "VIOLENT"? Nah!

Later the effect of these event will be traumatic as to where there is no more "mild ecchi", action/battle and horror/suspense/little blood scenes in the mangas were reading but will revert back to the boring era(past - early 1980s) wherein only some interesting mangas will sprung and reading only "DULL": drama, romance, children stories were available. Hope were not facing what we call the
DARK BORING ERA of manga. As to the manga provider/viewing sites, hope they'll not get to HOOKED in these to avoid downfall.

@mewnbrite - I was mainly only surprised about Pandora Hearts disappearing but it doesn't matter all that much, it'll just keep me more interested in finding out what's next anyways, since I'm buying the books as Yen Press releases them (slowly but surely).

I'm going to guess that this was a reply to me, they removed them/suspended every manga that had a mature theme tag (at onemanga, anyways). Yes, Say I Love You did come back, as did Midnight Secretary (unfortunately, sorry, I just hate smutty manga >.>...).
Though there're few are suspended indefinitely, Seikon no Qwaser is the only one I can think of at this very moment, not that I care, because I never bothered to read it.
I have no idea, I don't have one XD.

This is not censorship, this is advertising companies changing policies on the kind of content they find acceptable.

The websites had the choice to change advertisers, but they decided not to.

I know. It seriously SUCKS. Now I have to go to a bunch of different websites for my "mature" manga. Before I only had to go to mangafox. It's making online reading that much more annoying. >< If this keeps up, I might start downloading, since the only reason I do online reading is for the convenience.

All of them are licensed, why can't you just buy them, out of curiosity? And if you live in a different country, you can always get them shipped to you, y'know.

I mean, for me, whenever I read scanlations--and I find out they're licensed, I buy them (that does give licensing companies more money to license stuff so win-win situation). For example--I read Prince of Tennis (well, I knew it was licensed at the time, read it to see if I would like it.) I did like it, now, I have 1~4, I plan on buying more in the series though, when I have the time.

You know, not every one of us has that much money. A typical manga volume costs about $12 in my country - which is, in my opinion, ridiculously overpriced. Moreover, if you're talking about series like Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, etc. which all have volumes in the near fifties, that's a LOT of cash you're going to have to be willing to spend...

You know, if you and other manga fans in your country don't like the price, you could try boycotting? It might get them to lower the price at least a little bit. But I don't know for sure :/.
It's not like I have that much, either (concerning money). I only work part-time (and get paid every other week), but I always make sure I save enough to support the authors/distributors at least a little bit (most cost around 10~11 if you look at most of the distributors like Viz and Del Rey, and I live in the US btw).
