Well, I don't think I've read anything along the lines of what you're looking for, except perhaps Yurara and Rasetsu, but I'm not sure that really gets what you're looking for.
A genre search can't filter by 'spirits', but it looks like you're interested in supernatural horror, so a genre search of that type might help. (I sorted by rating.)
I've heard good things about Lunar Legend Tsukihime and Pet Shop of Horrors.

Natsume is a good choice.
