Hey-o! Well as the title sugets I need some help findin' a manga from the 90's. The problem is, I don't remember what it was about, don't remember the artist, and I don't remember the name, hence why I need help.

What I do remember is the art style. The Manga from the 90's had that definable awesome style, it wasn't chibi... or this shouju, it was kind of like Drakkun... or Outlanders. It was a shounen.

The cover of this one specific title, had a night blue sky, a full moon, and a girl sitting on a tree branch. She might have had a sword. This girl, as I remember, did use a sword in the manga, and she was a ronin or a ninja or something along those lines.. I think. It had boobies and pubic hair... and was published in english. It was also black and white. (EDIT) Even if it were published in english, if you might know a japanese title, please do add it in!

One panel i can describe, although not in full detail, was her standing naked, sword in her hand, and the "camera" was tilted toward the ground so you could see her legs and up. her pubes where drawn with the quick stroke line.. almost like speed lines, in that horizontal fasion.

I found the cover about 5 or so years ago, but I lost it during a format. SO.. I must turn to the community and HOPE someone knows the cover.

It was an image and manga burned in my brain, but I fail to remember the title. It MIGHT have something to do with moon, or full moons. I think publishing was around... 92-95 if I had to pin a date around there. Pretty sure it was around the same time the Cutey Honey anime was hittin' stores in english.

Sorry for the horrible description... it's late!

Anyway, long post, blah blah blah, thanks everyone!

(EDIT)

I've been searching the Action and Shounen section with no luck, but i've been trying to hit the english titles. So if anyone might be able to forward some info, it is still appreciated.

if its got nudity in it (with pubes and junk) then it'd fall under the "mature" and quite possibly the "adult" category too. So you could refine your search that way.

I don't think it was Nagai style.... I was just thinking... being published in the west, or in english, if indeed it was... would they change the covers based on what would look good to american audiences? Espicaly back then.

I seem to remember a english title of it, so i also searched the Liscensed section, and found that a lot of the manga i loved wasn't made in 90's! Could it be possible that it was made in america by japanese artists? Or that someone artists was mearly copying the style?

It also wasn't like the graphic novel style of manga... it was a comic style of manga. I remember picking up a cutey honey manga, which was in japanese, and it was that novel style of manga.

I hope this helps somewhat.

Oh, and I have tried the Wiki search before, but since I don't remember the name, I'd have to click on every single link... which isn't a problem, as I did it here, haha.

well i think its strange that you saw pubes in a japanese made manga because thats the first thing theyd censore (pubes, then the rest)

hey did you count the time it took for the manga to get released , translated and sent to the US and with the speed they had at the time

if you take in to count all of it could add another 2 or 3 years to the date of release.

so are you sure about the years because i found nothing

So far the criteria is: seinen / 90s / girl with sword. biggrin

Can you give us the girl's name or description? Long/short hair? Happy/evil eyes? Normal/elf ears? (LOL)

the only thing I can think of is Kekko Kamen But, that's 70's

She fights naked...

The anime was made in the 90s, though.

Deffenitly was not Kekko Kamen, and she didn't have a mask on, it was unmasked. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a Nagai production at all.

It wasn't pubes in the "i'm going to draw every hair" sense. It was just a few shadow type lines... if I could draw the panel, I would. Infact i might try.

She had, since it was a black and white comic, black hair, normal black eyes [but she could be angry at times wink ], normal type breasts... C size if i were to guess. I don't remember if there was any blood in it at all, but she was a warrior type girl for sure.

Generaly, when Manga is liscened for america, they uncensore regions, i.e., La Blue Girl, Hot Tails, Bondage Faries, etc. They could have changed the cover to adapt to american audiances, so the cover might be different from the japanese... I hope that's not the case.

I'm not sure the EXACT publishing date, I Just remember the comic, not novel, in the shops in the 90's. I wasn't 18, and tried to use the "It's for my dad" line. If they only let me buy it, I would not have to go through such termoil! If I can draw a resonable version of the cover and the shot, I hope someone will know the one i'm talkin' about.

The drawing style was like... oh geez... umm, I want to say Cutey Honey, but it's not Nagai style... it's just not like yaoi covers, or chibi etc.

(edit)
The art style was kind of like Drakkun. I think that is the best descriptive art style I could think of.

Could it be one of the Ghost in the Shell titles?
Never read the manga, but she was naked quite often in the anime film adaptation.

Defenitly was not ghost in the shell. I got some of them haha. It seemed like a period piece. I remember her takin' a bath in a wooden bath tub that was round.... But it was so long ago i might be remembering it wrong. I also remember, you know those old style japanese buildings, that are made of wood beams and have those sliding doors... like a dojo or something. I remember her in one of those style rooms....

Damn comic stores.... I must be the only one who knows what i'm talkin' about at this point... if only i could draw, i'd be able to show the one panel i remember sad

I swear, the cover was in color, had a blue night sky, a full moon, and the heroine... maybe on a cerry blossom tree, or a tree branch of some sort. She may have had her long black hair up, or it was loose. I THINK she had a gi, or a kimono of sorts on... Even then I'm stretching to try and remember the cover.

The title was multi worded, maybe something about a moon, was in english, and i think it had some nice loops in the loopy letters. Stretching much? lol.

Went through all the manga in 90's... nothing. I'm gonna try the 80's. Even though, some of them don't have pictures sad

(edit)

Ok,. so i've done some searching through m yold manga's back in the day, and found some Gunsmith Cats, Drakkun, and my Ranma 1/2... luckily I kept my receipts. Seems they were published here from 1993 (ranma) up to 96. All my other purchases where form 98. So, that might mean that this mystery title is from the late 90's. I'm going to try the 200's.. just in case.

Hmm, the only one I can think of from those descriptions is Rurouni Kenshin. O_O

But looking at the volume covers, none of them look like what you describe. So this may not be it.

Good luck with your search though~

Edit~ Maybe this can help? It is set so that only licensed shounen are listed; also listed by year. Just click on every series within the 90's until you find it, I guess?

Well, the major problem I am having is, I'd need the american covers, as it was in comic book form, not graphic novel form. All my Drakkun's and Gunsmith Cat's are all comic book form. So that would mean that they were most likely cover's that the american publication produced.

I went to my local comic book shops and asked around, and even they were thinking the same thing. Anyone know any resources I might be able to scrounge through that has the america covers?
