If you were to sign up for a job as a scanlator/fansubber, what would it be?

I'd choose to be an editor because I <3 photoshop and all it can do. Unfortuantly, I don't have photoshop currently.=/ What'd you choose?

I tried a "What do you think of scanlators and fansubbers" board on Gaia talking about similar things, and it didn't work out too well.dead

Proofreader, as long as I didn't have to make the changes myself because I don't have PhotoShop (and my comp's too old/slow to run it anyway).

I don't have the skills/programs necessary for any of the other jobs. no

I suppose I could edit, but I'm probably best suited as a proofreader. Grammar nazi, and all that. roll eyes

Well, it's not an "if", because I'm already a translator.^^

I love being a translator...we never run out of jobs, we make stories available for the english-speaking audience, and it doesn't take too much computer power to do what we do. biggrin

I'd love to be a translator, unfortunately I only know Dutch and English bigrazz.
So I'd say, an editor and doing the typesetting etc(Photoshop stuff).

Don’t think I’d do a great job in proofreading, English isn’t my first language and my spelling isn’t that great smile

I finally tried taking a test for editor, I'm waiting for the results smile.
I "should" be able to do allot with Photoshop. I'm studying for a bachelor degree in ICT... unfortunately I'm really bad in anything like photoshop/3dmax/creating designs, designing really isn't my thing bigrazz. I'm allot better at doing the code behind (php/asp.net/c# etc)

I would love to be a translator! (then I could understand and read all the japanese shows and mangas I wanted). sadly though, I can neither understand, read or write japanese, which is a bummer.

so the next best thing I would do would be a proofreader or editor. But frankly I don't have time for either. So I have to wait for the scanlations to come out! (and find the time to read them).

I'm already a translator. But nothing as gloryfing as jap->eng translator, plain old eng->pol. But now I can relate to all translators. Damn, it sometimes takes me hours upon hours to translate chapters from language which I know almost as my native to my native.
But, I'd love to be a quality checker biggrin.

I would like to be a translator, but although I took 2 1/2 years of Japanese, I'm not very good at it. Sometimes I try to translate when I'm bored, but there is always a snag that I get stuck on, and I usually give up after a while. sad

I already do a few jobs that I can manage or can provide (raws, proofread, distribution)... But if i had to do one I could do, it'd be translation. Mainly due to the lack of them, but it wouldn't have to be limited to existing projects and could do one's I want to do. Then the next job would be a cleaner.... seeing LQ raws turned into almost HQ scans, is very impressive.

Currently i'm trying to pick up the language skills, but it's slowly coming along. Nothing that I can apply yet, but i just hope i can master it to a decent level in a few years and not when i'm much older...
