Ok since there are very few topics I found interesting lately I thought I'd make one that interests me. So here's what you have to do. You know how your favourite song has that one line that you can't wait till it's sang, because you like what the artist means by it. Or there is a song you don't like that much but there is one verse so good that you will always listen to that song just so you can hear that one verse. So post that line or verse that you like. Mention what song it is and by who, and Why Do You Like It. I'll post mine after my classes today. Got to go. biggrin

Die Ärzte - Grotesksong ...it's also in German...well like a verse says...a protest song against protest songs...^^

Through The Fire and Flames by DragonForce.

It's a very uplifting song. Everytime I hear it, I feel like I have confidence to achieve the things I need to in life. Not only that, but it's a great song based on composition, too. Lyrically its great, and instrumentally its great.

Here are the complete lyrics:
"On a cold winter morning, in the time before the light,
In flames of death's eternal reign, we ride towards the fight.

When the darkness is falling down, and the times are tough all right,
The sound of evil laughter falls around the world tonight.

Fighting hard, fighting on for the steel, through the wastelands evermore,
The scattered souls will feel the hell that is wasted on the shores.

On the blackest plains in hell's domain, we watch them as they go,
In fire and pain, and once again we know...

So now we fly ever free, we're free before the thunderstorm,
On towards the wilderness, our quest carries on,

Far beyond the sundown, far beyond the moonlight,
Deep inside our hearts and all our souls!

So far away we wait for the day,
For the lights are so wasted and gone,
We feel the pain of a lifetime lost in a thousand days,
Through the fire and the flames we carry on!

As the red day is dawning, and the lightning cracks the sky,
They'll raise their hands to the heavens above with resentment to their eyes.

Running back through the midmorning light, there's a burning in my heart,
We're banished from the time in the foreign land, to a life beyond the stars.

In your blackest dreams see to believe that destiny is tied,
And endlessly we'll all be free tonight!

And on the wings of a dream, so far beyond reality,
All alone in desperation, now the time has gone,
Lost inside you'll never find, lost within my own mind,
Day after day this misery must go on!

So far away we wait for the day,
For the lights are so wasted and gone,
We feel the pain of a lifetime lost in a thousand days,
Through the fire and the flames we carry on!

Now here we stand with their blood on our hands,
We fought so hard, now can we understand,
I'll break the seal of this curse if I possibly can
For freedom of every man!

So far away we wait for the day,
For the lights are so wasted and gone,
We feel the pain of a lifetime lost in a thousand days,
Through the fire and the flames we carry on!"

A great song, indeed.

Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin is also a great song.

The Lyrics:
"There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven.
When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.
Ooh, ooh, and she's buying a stairway to heaven.

There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure
'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.
In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings,
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it makes me wonder.

There's a feeling I get when I look to the west,
And my spirit is crying for leaving.
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees,
And the voices of those who stand looking.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it really makes me wonder.

And it's whispered that soon if we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason.
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter.

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now,
It's just a spring clean for the May queen.
Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on.
And it makes me wonder.

Your head is humming and it won't go, in case you don't know,
The piper's calling you to join him,
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind.

And as we wind on down the road,
Our shadows taller than our soul,
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold.
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last.
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll.

And she's buying a stairway to heaven."

Specifically, I'd like to mention how I understand the last phrase to mean.

By last phrase, I mean this:
"And as we wind on down the road,
Our shadows taller than our soul,
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold.
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last.
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll."

Those can be interpreted so many different ways, its unimaginable. "And as we wind on down the road, our shadows taller than our soul" can be interpreted that as we grow older, the things weve done in our past, and the choices we've made are what define us down the road of life.

"And if you listen very hard, the tune will come to you at last", can be taken as if you listen to others, and the things around you, the song of life will come to you and you may gain knowledge of a deeper meaning to life.

"When all are one and one is all" can be interpreted as everyone is someone, no matter how insignifant someone or something may seem, they or it are always somehow important.

I understand "To be a rock and not to roll" as to be a strong person, in both body and mind, however, not to to the point where you do things to hurt others.

The lyrics to both of these songs may song a bit weird, but trust me, without the intstrumental portions of the song, you're missing out. I'd recommend giving them a listening to.

For lyrics my most favourite songs are 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Under the Bridge'
But I don't normally listen to songs for the lyrics, but moreso the instruments. And like listen to music with piano or violen because of the emotion you can feel when a really good musician plays one.

Basically I'm a big fan of Apocalyptica lyrics, but I'm too lazy to explain that here.

Coldplay "A rush of blood to the head" <- reminds me of people who stand beside me. And, at the same time, reminds me to stand beside them. Well, it's more complicated, but that should do.

I actually have alot.. but for now, we'll go with the CD I'm currently listening to. There's actually a few on it, that I really like.

We the People... - Flipsyde
US History
No More
Train

The reasons I like it.. I love the style. Both lyricals and instumentals wise. I like the fact, they're not just random words that flow.

There's loads of lyrics that speak to me. For instance, practically all of U2's songs speak to me. But U2 are legendary.
One is a song that I hold in a very high esteem. It just reflects my world perfectly.
Another lyrics that speak to me - "Lubię mówić z Tobą" by Polish band Akurat. I'm no good at translating poetry (and that's basically what all the lyrics of Akurat are - they sing poetry), but the title means "I like to talk with you" or word by word "I like to say to you". It's a sweet song that someone very close to me dedicated to me once upon a time, long, long ago. I'm sentimental.

Wow Meta. I bow to your choices as I at least love half of them. However, after your and Kaioh's favs, now I have nothing to add.

totaly agree with you with his taste in music!
this one is from James Blunt bigrazz Goodbye my lover -"I am a dreamer but when I wake,
You can't break my spirit - it's my dreams you take."

Pink Floyd- Wish you were here (the whole thing song is great!)
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found? The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

Metallica- The unfovigen II
"Lay beside me, tell me what they've done
Speak the words I wanna hear, to make my demons run
The door is locked now, but it's opened if you're true
If you can understand the me, then I can understand the you"

Staind- Sober (original song from Tool)*I have never been drunk in my life by the way but I just love the song bigrazz *

Nikki Sixx- Life is Beautiful *for some reasons I like dark songs laugh

You can't quit until you try
You can't live until you die
You can't learn to tell the truth until you learn to lie
You can't breathe until you choke
You gotta laugh when you're the joke? It's nothing like a funeral to make you feel alive

Just open your eyes
Just open your eyes
And see that life is beautiful
Will you swear on your life that no one will cry at my funeral

I know some things that you don't?I've done things that you won't
It's nothing like a trail of blood to find your way back home
I was waiting for my hearse
What came next was so much worse
It took a funeral to make me feel alive

Just open your eyes
Just open your eyes
And see that life is beautiful
Will you swear on your life that no one will cry at my funeral

Black Sabbath- Iron Man
"Iron Man"

Has he lost his mind?
Can he see or is he blind?
Can he walk at all,
Or if he moves will he fall?
Is he alive or dead?
Has he thoughts within his head?
We'll just pass him there
why should we even care?

He was turned to steel
in the great magnetic field
When he travelled time
for the future of mankind

Nobody wants him
He just stares at the world
Planning his vengeance
that he will soon unfurl

Now the time is here
for Iron Man to spread fear
Vengeance from the grave
Kills the people he once saved

Nobody wants him
They just turn their heads
Nobody helps him
Now he has his revenge

Heavy boots of lead
fills his victims full of dread
Running as fast as they can
Iron Man lives again!

Alive
Just open your eyes
Just open your eyes
And see that life is beautiful
Will you swear on your life that no one will cry at my funeral

Just open your eyes
Just open your eyes
And see that life is beautiful
Will you swear on your life that no one will cry at my funeral

"The Tower" by Vienna Teng

The one who survives by making the lives
Of others worthwhile
She's coming apart
Right before my eyes
The one who depends on the services she renders
To those who come knocking
She's seeing too clearly what she can't be
What understanding defies

She says I need not to need
Or else a love with intuition
Someone who reaches out to my weakness and won't let go
I need not to need
I've always been the tower
But now I feel like I'm the flower trying to bloom in snow

She turns out the light anticipating night falling
Tenderly around her
And watches the dusk
The words won't come
She carries the act so convincingly the fact is
Sometimes she believes it
That she can be happy the way things are
Be happy with the things she's done

And now I need not to need
Or else a love with intuition
Someone who reaches out to my weakness and won't let go
I need not to need
I've always been the tower
But now I feel like I'm the flower trying to bloom in snow

Reach out
Hold back
Where is safety
Reach out
And hold back
Where is the one who can change me
Where is the one
The one

Reach out
But hold back
Where is safety
Reach out
And hold back
Where is the one who can save me
Where is the one
The one

I need not to need
Or else a love with intuition
Someone who reaches out to my weakness and won't let go
I need not to need
I've always been the tower
But now I feel like I'm the flower trying to bloom in snow

I feel like I'm the flower trying to bloom in snow
The danger and the power
The friend and the foe

2 songs!

Black Sabbath - Paranoid -

Finished with my woman 'cause she couldn't help me with my mind
people think I'm insane because I am frowning all the time
All day long I think of things but nothing seems to satisfy
Think I'll lose my mind if I don't find something to pacify

Can you help me occupy my brain?
Oh yeah

I need someone to show me the things in life that I can't find
I can't see the things that make true happiness, I must be blind

Make a joke and I will sigh and you will laugh and I will cry
Happiness I cannot feel and love to me us so unreal

And so as you hear these words telling you now of my state
I tell you to enjoy life I wish I could but it's too late

Doctor My Eyes
Jackson Browne

Doctor, my eyes have seen the years
Through the slow parade of tears without crying
Now I want to understand
I have done all that I could
To see the evil and the good without hiding
You must help me if you can

Doctor my eyes
Tell me what is wrong
Was I unwise to leave them open for so long?

As I've wandered through this world
As each moment has unfurled
I've been waiting to awaken from this dream
People go just where they will
I never notice them until I've got this feeling
That it's later than it seems

Doctor my eyes
Tell me what is real
I hear their cries
Just saying "It's too late for me"

GUITAR SOLO

Doctor my eyes
Cannot be disguised
Is this the prize for having learned how not to cry?

-Cuz I have lived through too many traumatic experiences and now I have mental problems.

Ryan Cabrera - I Will Remember You

8 years later
Time goes by fast
Got my memories
And they will last
I try to keep it simple
Cuz I hate goodbyes
I try to keep it simple by
Telling myself that

I. I will remember you
And all of the things that we've gone through
There is so much I can say
The words get in the way
So were not together
I will remember you
I will remember. you

We're a picture
In my mind
When I want to find you
I just close my eyes
You'll never be that far from me
So don't say goodbye cuz
You'll never be that far from me
I'm telling myself that

I. I will remember you
And all of the things that we've gone through
There is so much I can say
The words get in the way
So were not together
I will remember. you

You were there when I needed a friend
Thank you thank you
I never told you how much that meant
Gotta thank you thank you

I. I will remember you
And all of the things that we've gone through
There is so much I can say
The words get in the way
So

I. I will remember you
And all of the things that we've gone through
There is so much I can say
The words get in the way
We're not together
I will remember
We're not together
I will remember you

I will remember. you

I really like Linkin Park's songs since I think most of them have a lot of meaning behind their lyrics (unlike a lot of the music on the radio today).

"Hands Held High":
"When the rich wage war, it's the poor who die."
"Say something that you know they might attack you for, cause I'm sick of being treated like I have before. Like it's stupid standing for what I'm standing for."
"The soldiers that are out today. That brush the dust with bulletproof vests away. It's ironic. At times like this you pray, but a bomb blew the mosque up yesterday."

"The Little Things Give You Away:"
"All you've ever wanted was someone to truly look up to you and six feet under water, I do."

"Breaking the Habit"
"I don't know what's worth fighting for or why I have to scream."
"I don't know why I instigate and say what I don't mean."

"Leave Out the Rest:"
"I'm strong on the surface, not all the way through."
"I've never been perfect but neither have you."

There's so much more quotes from Linkin Park I love, but I'm sure my post is long enough already. laugh
