MC distancing himself from others because of "...."

well as the topic says I would like some stories were the main character distances himhelf from the people around him because he doesn't want them to get involved into whatever his problem is.

the only example I can think of at the moment is Natsume Yuujinchou
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
because he is allways in trouble with youkai


it is also ok if the other people distance themselfes from the MC because they think he is strange and the MC is ok with that.
