Six seasons and a movie!

i would not mind if this show went on for 10 more seasons.

I don't know about you...but usually, USUALLY, people don't stay in colleges for over 4-6 years...or at least they don't go over 10 years.
Wishful thinking though.

they can frame time in anyway they want each episode could represent a day

Hmm, I'm with TaoPaiPai here. I'm a Brit myself and I just don't get American humour at times.

i think comedy is the one of those things that's hard to transfer from culture to culture. i can watch British dramas but totally not into British comedies.

anyways, i just wanted to post this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1X6hG2u89xk
Troy and Abed are the best part of the show

While you not liking it is fine, I don't think the humor is very "American." Actually, that's probably why it does so poorly with everyone other than critics, it's not a culturally universal humor. Most Americans don't really "get it," so calling it American would probably be a mistake. If anything it's the product of a very specific subculture, which is less about nationality and more about class, if it's attached to anything universal to begin with. Personally I just see it as a very unapologetic show. Community doesn't care about the viewer much, it just runs on its own fumes and hopes the viewer might like something along the way. That always produces the classic "you like it or you hate it" effect.

In that case, I think I'd prefer The Mighty Boosh.

I hope we get a movie. Season 2 was phenomenal. Season 1 was hilarious, Contemporary American Poultry...they did a full on gangster film spoof/homage based around chicken fingers. Then in Season 2 they hit hard with episodes 5-7 with Abed as meta-Jesus, the zombie Halloween episode, and the Mean Girls-Secret Garden parody w/the secretly racist janitor ("it's going to be a maze" flashback to the swastika-I love when they flashback to things not included in the episode).

And the paintball episodes...glorious. With the prohibition era setup...there aren't words. Season 3's been alright. But I can see it winding down. I'd be happy with it going out as a movie. Then maybe Donald Glover can focus more on his Childish Gambino projects biggrin .

Also, I don't care if Joel McHale is, well, kind of a tool. Chevy Chase is a xenophobe. And I like how the creator Dan Harmon utilizes that. I was reading about it before, that Harmon doesn't want Chase to come off as a clever and sympathetic character. He wants Pierce to be a pitiful and miserable old man. Harmon doesn't hide these facets of their character. He draws them out so you see what they are. It's just enjoyable watching these characters, these exaggerations of human nature, interplay. They're not necessarily bad people, and while you might not want them for your friend, as a viewer you appreciate the ensemble.

You're not into British comedies...that must mean you've never seen 'Allo 'Allo!, because I've never heard of anyone who did not like it.

On topic, I've never watched Community, but I find most American tv shows too over-the-top...

Now that a perfect example of terrible comedy(if we can even call it that). That show doesn't even have the slightest bit a reason for anything it does and is in extremely poor taste. The people who enjoy that show must not be completely sober when they watch it.

Hm... I doubt best show ever... But I guess that's really a matter of opinion. Personally off the top of my head I prefer Frasier and well... A lot of things...

I must admit though, the Christmas Community this year making fun of Glee was pretty good, and definitely better than the Christmas Glee..

Also the Film Noir Chang one was pretty good.. And there was one other but I don't recall.. XD

But yeah.. Pretty much as far as I'm concerned Community is a fun show, which has it's low points as well as it's high points... And it's something you'd appreciate more if you watch a lot of movies and television so you can understand all the things they're referencing and parodying..

Same principle, different sort of humor. Personally I find Community to be a bit more clever on the whole, but that's my own taste. I think you're about in line with the type of writing I'm attempting to describe, though. It's a show that's really written for a subculture, if you're not a part of it, you don't enjoy it. Law sort of backed that up without trying to with her comment there.
