What was all that about?

I loved this manga but I did take about 2 years out of manga due to shitty work stuff and just general lack of time so I'm catching up on finished series. Given that please be patient with me since I've probably forgotten everything about the manga other than how much I enjoyed it.

So having just finished reading to chapter 213 I'm just baffled how they can end like that. I do sort of get it since the series has always been pretty bizarre and the ending is strangely satisfying even though it's not an ending so much as the manga just stopping. I am about to continue Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle (despite the fact the scanlations appear to have died) so I'm also wondering if it will make more sense through reading that. I enjoyed the cross over elements and was a bit sad that I couldn't read them as they came out so I'd fully appreciate the two series running parallel to each other.

Is there a generally accepted interpretation of how it ended or how it segues into Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle that someone could summarise for me? News of a sequel is fine too biggrin

i have to agree with the previous comment. i just finished after dropping it years ago, i did reread the older volumes but for some reason there are so many blanks i still don't get. confused the end felt as if clamp just thought 'wtf lets just end it'. i dont get watanuki feelings towards yuko, the feelings seem too strong for just friendship but there was never any hint of romance. the whole series was quite good, the mystery element was really interesting, i even loved the art but man is it hard to get over the ending. boooooo~~~

it's not an ending. we just have to wait for them to create another story.... ^_^

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
hopefully it tell a story of a magician untouch by time, living in a weird store, meet a girl with a powerful magic affinity, teach her stuff, while containing his own personal feeling toward her a secret (aka holic with watanuki's and yuuko's role in reverse).... but, then again, one doesnt need another story with the same ending where the main character end up being alone and in waiting for time unknown....

Kids shouldn't be reading seinen. 'nuff said.

I thought the ending was adequate.

I wish the story is longer, I want to see more watanuki in action or more plot.

and it just end like that, timeskip to the future...

I am reading blood-c since there seem to be relation to this, hope watanuki show up

I disagree; I think the ending is very proper. Who knows how long Watanuki was gonna wait just to see Yuko again? And let's not forget, he did pretty much admit that he'll never see her again. I wished that we get to see when Doumeki will use the egg. It's been mentioned a numerous of times towards the ending about when it'll be the right time to use it, but we were never given that chance. If anything, this ending's more like a cliffhanger. It's too much to hope right now as I'm assuming that CLAMP doesn't exactly plan to start a "xxxHOLiC part 2" but I really hope they do. Part 2 could probably even include more of Syaoran and his Tsubasa team.

Which reminds me, maybe I should pick Tsubasa manga up again. cool

@faye_chan
I wouldn't even put Yuko and Watanuki as having mutual feelings for eachother. If anything, it's more like friendship, or even master-apprentice. A master/teacher is almost like a parent figure. And I totally understand why Watanuki is so hasteful about inheriting the store and persistent about waiting forever for her.

The end is only a placeholder but i would´t hold my breath for Rei to pick up the pieces.
