Just curious. Personally, I almost always listen to music regardless of what I'm doing, but don't necessarily have to listen to something while reading.

Nope. I've tried it, since it seems a number of people do it. But I'm the sort of person that gets really, really sucked into books (or manga, or whatever). Music just distracts me from that, even if it sort of fits the mood. If I'm putting devoting even a small amount of attention to the music, I'm enjoying what I'm reading that much less.
For that matter, I get really sucked into music as well. If I'm actually listening, I'm quite likely to be staring off into space instead of focusing on whatever I was supposed to focus on. That's why I absolutely haaaated it when a teacher at school would put on music to "create a nice atmosphere and facilitate creativity" or whatever reasons they had. Especially with classical music. How am I supposed to focus on math when I'm hearing all these different instruments weaving together with gorgeous harmonies and other distracting things?

well I have to..because my pc is so loud that you can't concentrate on anything...covering this with music is my only solution and if the volume is low and the music the sort that can be categorised as background than it's kinda comfortable ^^

Yup. Usually have a book out on my desk, and a video of some kind streaming over in another window as well. One source of entertainment isn't enough for me

I constantly have some form of low vocal electronica playing. Found that when it doesn't have lyrics it doesn't cause any distraction from reading d(^_^)b

I always have a song playing. I'm pretty good at concentrating (not as much as Bossun from Sket Dance though, that would be awesome. haha). If I'm reading a really good manga or really in to whatever it is I'm reading, the music would tune out...which is most of the time

Sometimes. Just Sometimes =)
When I do its always on low volume, and the song are all instrumental.
