Three Requests

Yes, I'm back and I have several requests. They seem to be odd ones, so I don't expect too many replies. Anyhow, alleyoop!

1. Confidence -- I want a manga, anime, drama, movie, whatever, that has a confident main character. I'm not saying that they're never moved by doubts or fears, but rather that their confidence reigns supreme. At the end of the day, this character knows they're worth more and doesn't question themselves all the time. If they make a mistake, they move on. If they fail, they just try harder to succeed. They know they've got something worth selling or the talent/abilities to get where they want in life. Romance must be present, if you please, whether subtle or not.

2. Student-Teacher/Sempai-Kouhai/Boss-Employee Relationship -- I get there's probably a tag but here's the catch: I want them to control themselves. For example, with the Student-Teacher relationship, wait until graduation but still have that tension hanging between them like a curtain. I also want them to actually care about each other. I mean, they try to go for different people but it blows up in their faces because they just belong with the other person. Romance, obviously, is a must.

3. The Character's going after their dreams and just won't stop for anyone -- pretty much self-explanatory. Regardless of the dream or the motive behind it, they have one, for whatever reason, and they're going for it full-force. I also really like when the lessons they learn also apply to personal issues. For example, if the MC wanted to be an actor and their role just so happens to fit their situation in life snugly and the role ends up making them confront their own shadows. Romance, whether subtle or not, must be present.

4. Innocence -- I want the character to fall in love with or really admire the innocence of the other character. Keep in mind, I'm talking -innocence- not -stupidity- and I want the character to do their utmost to keep this person safe from becoming tainted. I'd like the innocent person to actually be likable and not slap-worthy, if possible. Romance, as always, is must for me.

Please, no shounen/shoujo-ai, yaoi, yuri, hentai, ecchi (unless light), and/or smut.

I could care less if it's shounen, shoujo, seinen, or josei.

I really don't like love-shapes unless it's just obvious who the character has feelings for and the other 'romantic rivals' serve as catalysts for the main couple.

Oh, and I'm okay with a bit of violence but not rape.

EDIT: I know I said three, but then I thought of another one wink

#1 Confidence:
One of my favorite manga's and the main character is full of confidence and is always happy smile
but does have her ups and downs. Kodocha
(tell me what you think afterwards eyes )

#4 Innocence:
I had a really good manga in mind but too bad it's shounen-ai, (very light though.) oh well.

Dear Chiruha definitely falls under the "innocence" trope (and she's also unfairly adorable and likable, at least in my opinion). And, Kisara is her overprotective (almost) boyfriend.

Saiunkoku Monogatari Shuurei works hard to become a civil servant of the imperial court, even though she lives in a time where a woman becoming a court official is unheard of. There's sort of a love triangle, but not really.

Ciel The main character Yvonne definitely falls under your "confidence" request. She's beautiful, and she knows it, so she's never really wanted for anything. She also knows how to use all her assets to her advantage, and she never seems to be too particularly down about any of the mistakes she makes...

2. Gokusen totally fits. There is also Unbalance x Unbalance, but it fits slightly less... you could still give it a try. Read this spoiler if you tried reading, but want to drop:

The author likes to trick the reader into believing many different things that usually are not true.

Maybe also Enchanter, but I'm not so sure how much it fits your request.

Toshokan Sensou: Love & War most likely fits.

I'm kind of interested in your 4th request too.

Ii Hito - may fit your "innocence", "confidence" and "going after his dreams" thing. He is smart and a really good person, has a strong character with good principals and morals. Some female characters falls in love with him because of who he is, but he has distance relationship with a really cute and hot tempered girlfriend. She plays a major part in the story. He is in the big city following his dream of working for a big sports equipment producer company. In the big world of business he keeps to his good moral principals and he also uses his lessons learned at work on his personal life and vice versa. Im enjoying this a lot. Its different, smart and original. Also quite funny. This story kind of reminds me of the novel The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

Request 3: Oresama Teacher
An amazing manga with a lovable main character and a very lovable love interest. The whole teacher/student thing isn't creepy either which took me by surprise!

1. Main girl in Lovely Complex (although she is hesitant at first, she becomes really headstrong later on)
3. Two main characters in Bakuman (might also go in the #1 category)
4. Main guy in Gakuen Alice

Oho! I got more responses than I expected biggrin Okay, so here's the deal:

BleuBonBon: I have now added that to my list. I shall wait for it to be completed before I begin so I don't have to stop wink

nezushi: I read through some of it but put it down for a bit since the characters are really young. I'm not used to reading about younger protagonists, so I'm not quite sure about it. I'm sure that'll change in the future and I'll pick it right up. You know, I used to despise the idea of a older female/younger male but now I find it quite charming ;D

Suxinn: Oh, indeed. As I told BleuBonBon, I shall wait for them to be completed but they will definitely be read smile

jahu: Gokusen is actually one of my favorites ;D As for Unbalance x Unbalance, I'm not sure about it so I may hang on the outskirts until I look more into it. I'll probably wait for Enchanter to be completely scanlated and then start it up. Vroom. Toshokan Sensou: Love & War has been added to my list. I'm so glad there's a manga since I loved the story but didn't like the anime. Thanks<3

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I loved Yankumi and Shin. So sweet<3 I wish I could see their relationship unfold since it'll certainly be exciting and hilarious. It'd also be nice to see Shin in a suit... ;D

kaidiego: It's on my list, I thank you for it. I love to have those light yet funny reads that charm me.

lalalarry: Started it a while back, adored it, and now waiting for it to be completed. I agree with the creepy-factor being absent from the manga. I like how they seem to focus on the relationship as opposed to the angst. And the bunny-mask thing is just too funny to pass up! laugh

Tiffyyii: I started Lovely Complex and I'm currently working through it. I'm waiting to start Bakuman and I'm standing off of Gakuen Alice for now since she looks pretty young and the series is ongoing.

To everyone, I thank you for the suggestions! biggrin If you have anymore, I shall kindly regard them. School starts soon so I'm trying to read what I'll really enjoy beforehand. Again, thank you.

Well,

I think Lovely Everywhere is a tight fit for 4.

Try Paradise Kiss or Amakusa 1637 for a confident heroine.
