we have beck on rock music. nodame cantabile on classic.
we have manga on various sports. bakuman on manga itself.
i was wondering if there any good manga about literature, English literature would be my preference, but i guess it could be on Japanese as well, seeing that its from japan.
it can be in any genre except really yaoi etc. thank you

R-18 - it is not really a manga about literature, but there are literary citations or quotes by famous authors in the series. Example:
"As long as there's trust in a relationship, there's hope in the war." - Stendhal
Sorry if this manga is not really what you're looking for...and it's smut.

Check out this thread: Adaptations of Literary Classics .
Also, there's a category: Based on a Classic .
My personal recommendation would be the anime adaptation of Gankutsuou , though. It was based on Dumas' Count of Monte Cristo, and the artwork is stunning.

some of these looked interesting, especially Dante ...wow.
but what im looking for is more like the bakuman of literature, maybe the story of a boy who wants to be a novelist and really information about literature in it.
though i will watch the anime of gankutso thank you.
That kind of scenario, unfortunately, has brought in manga more ecchi parodies than actual interesting series, at least for what I know (but I'm pretty sure if there was a seinen masterpiece about a young novelist, I'd probably have heard of it). All stuff I've ever heard, mostly because it aired as an anime too, was about young erotic/incest writers (R-15, Oniichan dakedo Ai Sae Areba Kankeinai yo ne, Kanojo wa Kanno Shosetsuka), so the main point isn't really literature.
The only one I know about a writer who suited my tastes is Mahoraba, but that's hardly the main focus of the story. He wanted to be a children author and that's pretty much all, still the manga is nice.
