Two types of protagonists

Hello! I have two requests:

1. So, I'd like to read a manga where the protagonist (preferably female) is very sarcastic. However, I don't want the story to follow a typical shoujo storyline where girl meets boy, girl has trouble confessing her feelings, etc etc. instead, I'd rather that there be more substance to the story.

2. I'd like to read a manga where the protagonist (preferably female) is happy-go-lucky. But, she shouldn't be stupid. she might do stupid things from time to time, but it should be obvious that she is capable.

For the two above requests, it would be great if the protagonists not only fit the criteria but were also very intelligent/talented or respected by their peers or both. Romance is a plus but not required.

Thanks in advance!

Warau Kanoko-sama? and the sequel Koi Dano Ai Dano I think she's sarcastic from time to time..and she's not really a typical shoujo female lead...and the one who's having trouble is the guy..plus she's really what you would call clever..

For the first request:

xxxHolic Yuko is dark, mean, sarcastic, egoistic, but also very skilled, philosophical, professional... and so on... and she's not that bad of a person smile
There's no romance for her though. But it's a great philosophical story. And fun smile

Mana maybe, I don't remember much...
Edit: I guess it fits. At first she's shy and timid, but from chapter 2 on she's totally changed into... dunno gothic-dark-punk-whatever-chick, because of the excorcism skill she gained through that ghost. (?) There's also a lot asian mythology information in this series, I found it quite interesting as I remember.

For number two: Skip Beat! Yume no Shizuku....,Tower of God (guy though), and Denpa Kyoushi(guy) #.1: Seol Hui and Rure. For more I'd have to go through manga I've read.
