I'm looking for a fantasy/adventure parody manga, something sort of like Slayers but perhaps even more of a parody.

It would be ideal if the manga had elements like elves, monsters, questing, magic, swords, and so forth. I want the manga to be mostly a parody of the genre though and not really take itself too seriously. A manga that is really funny, and not necessarily a parody, would be good as well.

Any suggestions or links to similar threads would be greatly appreciated, thanks...

I read some of Watashi no Ookami-san a while back and somehow or another it ended up in my unfinished list. Perhaps I will give it another read, thanks for the suggestion.

Kyle's Final Fantasy
Maou Voice

Could always check out the 'Parody' or 'Gag' category tags with 'Fantasy' search too.

Check out the anime Senyuu if you haven't already, it fits this category perfectly.

As for manga.. 1/2 prince maybe.

I'm reading both 1/2 Prince and The Devil King is Bored currently. The Devil King is Bored is more of what I'm looking for though, I really like the slapstick type of humor it has. 1/2 Prince has gotten a little too serious for me recently (last several volumes) though it started off really good -- I think the author is fixing to wrap it up.

@-shiratori- I will have to check out the anime Sen`yuu, I didn't even hear about it until now.

One-punch Man, Kyle's Final Fantasy, and Maou Voice I will check out as well. I will try searching with those tags as well; I was hoping to get some suggestions of what people enjoyed first though...

Thanks again for the suggestions and please keep them coming...

Mahoujin Guru Guru is imho the classic of the fantasy parody. It's about a boy who wanted to be a wizard but his parents wants him to be the legendary swordsman hero instead. The anime is probably more famous that the manga though.
Another classic is probably Hameln no Violin Hiki but I really couldn't get into its humor and dropped it.

If you're into anime, you should check the ongoing Ixion Saga. It's probably the only recent fantasy parody which gave me a few good laughs, even if it's not a masterpiece. My favorite fantasy parody is Villgust, while the most funny and best parody of the fantasy genre is imho the special first episode version of Tower of Druaga. I honestly laughed my ass off in that episode. The actual series is still comical but more serious in comparison of the special episode.

Take the above suggestions with caution, since I fear our tastes could be not very similar.

Also, for the sake of completion, since you mentioned 1/2 Prince which I found one of the most boring volume 1 I've ever read in a novel I can also mention The Legend of Sun Knight (Novel) which is imho a lot better as a parody than 1/2 Prince (still definitely not one of my favorite story). You should probably try it imho.

Thanks for the recommendations reid1.

I am currently watching Ixion Saga and found several of the episodes to be pretty funny. For the most part that is the kind of humor I am looking for -- though the anime seems to have been resorting to cheap toilet humor types of gags recently which I am not particularly fond of. I also watched the first season of Tower of Druaga a while back and enjoyed it as well. I heard the second season didn't have the same slapstick elements that the first season had though so I never gave it a watch.

I have heard nothing but good things about The Legend of Sun Knight. I have been reading more light novels these days as well so I might give that one a read after I finish several other novels I am currently reading.

I can't seem to find the manga of Mahoujin Guru Guru translated anywhere so I guess I will try and find the anime. I'm always interested in classics I haven't seen though so that, The Violinist of Hamelin, and Villgust I will definitely check out.

@midnightloon I really liked the anime for Those Who Hunt Elves. It is a pity no scanlation groups translated the manga though.

@jahu Thanks for the suggestion. I'm sort of new to webcomics, but the few that I have been reading I have really enjoyed.

@-shiratori- I like that anime Sen`yuu -- I wish they would have made it full length episodes instead of the short 5 minute ones though. It sort of reminds me of Teekyuu which was another short slapstick anime that aired recently that I got a few laughs out of.

@reid1 I just started watching a few episodes of Mahoujin Guru Guru. It seems a little on the childish side, but it could end up being enjoyable -- the first episode had some funny moments. Since it is only two episodes I'm probably going to check out Villgust soon also.

@RIP131 I tried reading Dragon Half a while back but at the time couldn't really get into the art style. I may give it another read though. Thanks for the other suggestions, I will take another look at Dragon Half and Yo no Na wa Zushio and look for the other two as well.
