I'm thinking on using a cloud-based system, with 2 or 3 part-time/freelance translators including myself, and a proofreader. Basically, it means translate whatever page whatever bubble you like, whenever you like, as opposed to a single chapter at a time. But this means, a single page might be done by different ppl, so a proofreader would probably help.
Pages are saved via cloud, either Dropbox or Google Drive, I don't really care which. So it'll always be updated when someone translates a new page and stuff.
As for how it's released, I've been using MF and Google Drive up til now, and just let ppl play around with whatever I have done. Or, just to release a chapter once it's completely done.
It's not limited to 9 Banme no Musashi, but open for suggestions too. But I'm hoping for it to mainly be mangas, as having a single language requirement would probably help seeing how the group would work.
Anyone interested? I have no idea how official or "bigger" scanlation groups work, but I thought with this it might be more flexible.
I can double as a translator and a typesetter, since I prefer typing directly on the image. As far as 9 Banme no Musashi goes that's all that's needed. However, if anyone is interested in other mangas, a cleaner would probably be needed too. Typesetter... well, IDK. We can work out the details. I might also be able to provide raws... but other than ones you can find on the internet, most of the ones I can get my hands on are Chinese.
To sum it up:
Files (in pages) stored via a cloud service provider
Pro is, you don't have to finish the whole chapter or even page. If you have a part where you don't know how to translate, someone else might know and fill that part.
Con is, it's confusing. People's habits may differ here and there, like I tend to keep as much as I can to the original text, others might adapt it more into English.
This is where proofreading comes in, once a chapter is about complete, it gets proofreaded and retypsetted if needed, before marking it as complete and released. Hopefully someone with decent experience, since this is probably the most confusing part of it all.
So it's: raws > cleaner (if needed) > cloud service (such as Dropbox or Google Drive) > translators (type directly on image file, or attach a comment on the image or something) > typesetter (if needed) > proofreader > typesetter (if needed) > officially released
