Try Overlord (Novel), the MC is crazy strong with a demon/undead army under his command. Similar settings like SAO expect he is a undead lich with a demon harem .

Check out Royalroadl, it used to be a fanfiction site, but is now one for web novels in general and some of them are really good and surpass many of the japanase printed ones.
Start with

,
though the synopsis doesnt tell you much, it's an amazing story, Tate no Yuusha meets Moonlight Sculptor, great characters, awesome story
Seeker of Myths is also pretty good and so is Re:Lovely (especially if you're more into ecchi stuff)

Vamp! (Novel) .- very good. Well writen and interesting. Similar to Bacano!
Ark (Novel) - Similar to Legend of the Moonlight Sculptor. Virtual reality setting with hard-working MC. Very enjoyable.
Konjiki no Moji Tsukai (Novel) - Fantasy, summoned to another world type. Enjoyable even with the overused setting.
Jashin ni Tensei Shitara Haika no Maou-gun ga Sassoku Metsubou Shisou Nandaga, Dousureba Indaro ka (Novel) - has very few chapters ut but seems extreamly promising. Should at least keep a eye for it.
Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu - watched the anime? This one is better.
Kill No More (Novel) - Overpowered MC trope is like second title for the novel
It`s very decent read even with it`s shortcomings.
These I mention in case you read josei/shoujo types as well
Gu Fang Bu Zi Shang (Novel) - Josei. Very nice but is mostly romance with spices of politics and war.
Chigan Mojing (Novel) - josei. The same as some comedy jp/tw/k drama show.
Sugar Apple Fairytale (Novel) - sugar coated shoujo novel.
The Legend of the Sun Knight (Novel) - Saw that you have given it a try and didn`t like it but it`s such a shame. I recommend you to continue it until at least 4th volume. I found the first 2 volumes boring as well but was hooked from 3rd volume on. The novel has some very unique twists and Sun is nothing like what it seems at first. (no one should bother with the manga).

i would recommend Hagure Yuusha no Aesthetica, Silver Cross and Draculea, Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei, Campione!, Owari no Chronicle, Rakudai Kishi no Eiyuutan, Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut, Samayou Shinki no Duelist, and Kill No More. these are all the ones i remember that have the kind of MC you are looking for, or close enough to it in my opinion.
just a heads up the author for kaze no stigma is dead so the story is unfinished, and Hagure Yuusha no Aesthetica has no translator at the moment so unless you can read the raws i would avoid it, and i have read all of Tenkyou no Alderamin that is available and it has the MC you want.
