hello boys and girls~ I'm in need for something again...

So the story MUST revolve 'round a mystery (cold case or haunting) that happened years ago, then today a character (or a bunch of them) stumbles upon clues that can solve the mystery while digging into her/his own past.

EXAMPLE scenario:

MC goes back to his/her hometown, then hears about something weird happening around that old factory near the hills but ignores cuz he/she then finds out his/her sibling/parent/childhood friend recently died. MC then investigates his/her sibling/parent/childhood friends' death...after a while MC realizes that S/P/CF was actually involved in the big mystery so he/she digs deeper, unraveling the secrets from the *truth* everybody believes.

So the big question is WHAT REALLY HAPPENED *____* YEARS AGO?

Given that this should be

- Mystery
- Psychological

But it'd A BIG PLUS if there's
- HORROR
- GORE

The first thing that comes to mind is Ghost Hunt. They deal with the ghosts primarily, then later into their pasts. I love that chapter

with the "vampire". I think BloodStained Labrynth it was called?
Although the characters aren't directly involved with the crime/mystery that happened years ago, I'd still like that.

Pandora Hearts of course has the Tragedy of Sabrie.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
It started with Oz trying to find out what his crime was, then searching for Alice's memories, before they realize the history books lied and that they're just parts to a bigger mystery.

EDIT
I just read Boku Dake ga Inai Machi last night, and it was AWESOME. I won't say anything anymore to avoid spoiling it.

GOTH (shounen) and Coelacanth (shoujo, which I'm not really into), both have that feel to it.

Also Tasogare Otome x Amnesia, which I finished last night too.

Aaand, I've just started on [m]Higurashi no Naku Koro ni[m] series. I know from Umineko... there's gotta be a LOT of gore here.
END OF EDIT

Other than Sports I don't care what genre it is. Tragedy pisses me off most of the time, but hey if its really good, i'll read it. So, yes, even the mature stuff is welcome. (yaoi, yuri, hentai, the works)

Soooo... start reccin please?? eyes

Highly recommended: Boku Dake ga Inai Machi The guy went back into the past to save lives and solve a cold case (the case was closed but the police arrested the wrong guy so the real killer was still on the loose).

I would say the manga I have read that felt the most like Pandora Hearts is Kamisama Dolls. It is technically different to what you described but in practice it has exactly that feel. While in Pandora Hearts the main characters don't know what happened and are looking for answers in Kamisama Dolls everyone knows what happened but are too psychologically scarred to talk about it. Basically only the audience and one or two other characters are kept in the dark. It produces the same frustrating feeling with paranoia and more gore than Pandora Hearts.

Wah, I was just about to edit my post and add this one as an example. I read it last night, and you're absolutely right! The chills just wont stop crawling up my spine, esp with the last chapter, yes?
Can't wait for its next updates~

Quote from m_masato

Er... I've read it, and er, not really my taste.

Quote from lesterf1020

Hmmm... has potential, i think, but I must admit, I'm not really into mecha. I'd still give it a try tho.
EDIT: I just notice! I reread the synopsis again, and hell, I saw the first episode on TV just the other week! Coincidence? (I think NOT!) laugh laugh

Woah, soo many reccs! Arigatou! Keep 'em coming peeps!! eyes
