@miskatsura I'll check it, thanks smile

@Eclipse1 I've read Touch and I liked it a lot, but I don't think I'll read anything else from Mitsuru for the time being. That's because, more than giving the same feeling, his manga are a bit repetitive (because the stories tend to be mostly always the same with slight differences), and, unless you're a big fan, it gets boring to read yet another manga about baseball (or sports in general) rivals by the same author. Also, while I did like Touch, there were some things that I didn't love about it, and those things are bound to appear in his other works.

@calstine I have no problem withsports rivalries, I was just curious to see if there were manga out there with unique kinds of rivalry. Ping Pong seems interesting, if anything because it's about a sport that's not depicted often. About shoujo manga, I don't exactly mean cliched: cliches can be good if used properly. It's more about the overall quality, i.e., I'm open to shoujo manga that can me make say "Wow, this is some good stuff"; so I guess I'm going for writing skills and characterization. Thank you for the suggestions!

As mentioned before Hikaru no Go has a very strong rivalry and friendship. The whole manga is based around games between 2 people. Players with equal talent becomes extremely strong rivals and good friends. Not just for the MC but also for others. Like Touyou for example, the guy reached the top and he abandoned everything and changed so he could fight Sai again. He would make one move and wait for his rival to appear in an empty room.

I feel a bit bad because off-hand the non-romance eventuality ones I can recall are mainly sports. Besides Daiya which I mentioned, there's mental sports ones with 3-gatsu no Lion or Chihaya Furu.

3-gatsu is nice because the guy is kind of a recluse. It's nice and poignant, a nice change of pace from the usual high energy sports I guess?

Oh. Or Piano no Mori.
