Hi~ I'm looking for something to read / watch, with an older brother type of figure, preferably as protagonist. Doesn't have to be blood related, just the kinda feeling he gives off I guess? A plus if he's the type that tends to be a lil, self sacrificing.

To give examples, Rainbow fits perfectly. Seien from Saiunkoku Monogatari fits, but he doesn't show that side of him that often, which is why I say Seien instead of Seiran. Kirito from Sword Art Online just barely fits, but again he's almost always too busy to ever be a brother, perhaps just a glimpse of it during the Silica ep... 魔法青年リリカ ル恭也Joker fits perfectly, but it's fanfic, so I have no idea if Kyouya from canon acts the same way. Ghost Hunt Naru in the dreams maybe, but he never talks... and the anime doesn't touch his real identity.

Lelouch from Code Geass I wouldn't say fit all that much, he's siscon for sure, but more a yandere type imo. =w=;; And his own personality is way too strong, Nunnully might be his world but not his life.

Can think of a few other examples... but all pretty minor meaning no trans prolly.

I guess kinda like, you'd see the person as an older brother, before you'd see him as an individual? Even if he does have a background and a life, the older brother image just sticks out more. That type of thing.

Perfectly fine with raw of all forms! Well, except manhwa since I don't read Korean. Chinese limited to Traditional, meaning only Taiwan of HK authors and artists pls. No PRC sites.

Other than that anything fine. I span from manga and anime to novels and fanfics.

Ty in advance! c:

I think Tenka from Donten ni Warau might fit.

Oh yes! The older brother in the Kumo family. Can't remember if was Tenka tho, should go back to read. xD I didn't finish it but think it prolly fits.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
With that said, didn't he lead a bad end? > > Blurry memories...

I don't know how far you read the first time, but many things happen around Tenka... And in the middle of the manga there's a big bad thing happening.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
It all works out in the end though.

If you are ok with novels No Hero (Novel) by Yu Wo plays this brother thingy quite well even though he is the butler...Come to think of it most of her novels has this type of character dead

Pinocchio one of the main characters gives that feeling
Meteor Methuselah main character is exactly like this - highly recommended.
Superior the hero
Kobato. he is kinda a tsundere but still fits.

Yes I'm perfectly fine with novels! Rather, I've read No Hero and pretty much all of Yu Wo's novels already. xD Her latest zombie apocalypse one fits quite well too.

Meteor Methuselah I've read and loved, if only his chaps were a bit longer. x-x

Superior I've read, but tbh didn't leave that deep an impression so can't remember if it fits.

Will read the other two, thanks!

Maybe Tokyo Ghoul? You'll have to read a bit till the "little sister" shows up but she definitely calls the main character big brother, though they're not related he tries to protect her.

You know, it's odd that you've mentioned Ghost Hunt, but thought that the big brother-type character was Naru's brother. If you ask me, the one who fits that description is the monk.

As for recs:

Kokoro ni Hana wo!! - Everyone except the toddler brother has his moments.

Mainichi Seiten! and all its sequels.

Kataribe no List, Shuumatsu no Laughter, X-kai, Hiso Hiso, Aka-chan to Boku - The MC

Chronos - Deep, Toukei Ibun, Sakura no Ichiban! - An important side character

The guys in the Saiyuki saga, sometimes; especially in Saiyuki Gaiden.

Ensemble (Yubi), Hakkenden - Touhou Hakken Ibun, Brother (MINEKURA Kazuya), Karasu, Himitsu, Yakusoku Siren, Vampire Doll, Hinatama, Night Head and Night Head Genesis, Kaine (title story only), Toxic (TAKAHASHI Ryo) - One of the MC's

Uso Tsurezure - Protagonist's friend

Cantarella and Cesare - Both very different takes on the same set of characters, but Caesar fits the bill, I think, in both series.

Leon from Pet Shop of Horrors kind of fits, as does Count D.

A number of characters in Adekan, most notably Kojirou and Saburouta.

The anime K and its sequels (Missing Kings and Return of Kings) have several important characters of the sort.

The protagonist of the anime Steins;Gate, though only with some of the cute girls in the story. Understandable, since it's based on a dating sim.
