In this one a girl suddenly kisses the hero on the train. She later says she didn't know how to confess properly and just went for broke. Everyone around him tells him not to go for her because she's the wildest girl in the school, and ultimately he offers to be "friends" because he "doesn't know what kind of girl she is", feeling that if even one of the rumors is true he couldn't handle her or sharing the persecution. He breaks her heart with those words and only afterward finds out from her friend that the girl has absolutely zero experience in romance or sex, and all the rumors came from an idiot who liked a boy who liked her instead. Fortunately, she chooses to have some faith in him when he grabs her and swears to protect her from all the persecution from then on.
The story doesn't necessarily have to be romantic or have a love interest fighting the rumors, just this story aspect of a girl innocent and inexperienced trying to deal with the repercussions of the rumors, from shame and derision to assaults by fools who actually think she'd never say no.
