Maybe he meant 2 days worth of game time? Like 48 hours actual play time, that's about average I think for most console RPGs, 40-60 hours or so. It used to be when I actually played them anyway, the most recent console RPG I've played is Final Fantasy X.

As for the topic, I wouldn't say I'm mainly an RPG gamer, but it is my favorite genre. I've been thinking of replaying an older one for the fun of it though. Maybe one of the SNES Final Fantasy games. Or Chrono Trigger, I loved that one...

2 days o_o ....

I could see two days but that is if one would speed through the game and beat it at the lowest possible level. The fastest time that I beat a rpg would have to be a weekend, friday night, then saturday and sunday, when I beat Final Fantasy VII for the third time.

well when I play rpg usually I dont care much about getting highest lv or some secret weapons/armors, the most important thing for me is the story, it's kinda addicting, so I play it fast to know how would the story ended, I never skip even a sentence of conversation too.

hahahah, 3 cheers for a true RPG gamer ^.^

Highest levels and secret weapons are fun, but the story is the most important thing of all. Just because it's a game does not mean it shouldn't have novel-quality story =)

I recall beating FFII (US) in something like 8 hours played. I remember reaching Zeromus and being WAY underleveled. Rydia died to a single Big Bang every time ><

the story's so important to rpg's but gameplay is a factor to me. I cant stand the ones with slow text and awkward controls

my favorites are the final fantasy's and tales series

Of course the story is a must. But I can't get myself to play the game without seeing all it had to give.
And if it's just finishing the game it becomes way to easy and is more like playing a visual novel than playing a really interactive game imo.
I like beating the unbeatable optional bosses, and doing side quests. Breeding chocobo, playing poker or whatever.
And just to take FFVIII as an example. I finished the game with my highest level character at lvl14. (which is something quite hard to achieve, but makes the game actually easier for you since in FFVIII the monsters and bosses level is according to yours).

Of course.
Plot is what makes me play and
shooters have pretty lame plots.
