Short official english manga with physical copies
(7 posts, 520 views) Posted: over 2 years ago by Suxinn in I'm Looking For...
Rightstuf is legit, and I've ordered from them very often. They're also known for having pretty solid packaging for their books, so unlike if you order from, say, Amazon, you won't get anything damaged.

There have been massive shipping delays because of COVID. Last time I ...
Short official english manga with physical copies
(7 posts, 520 views) Posted: over 2 years ago by Suxinn in I'm Looking For...
You should probably mention at least what genres you're into, because there's actually loads of short manga series being published nowadays.

Also, if you want to be really thrifty, you can wait until the holidays and buy from rightstuf. They usually have really cheap bundl...
Unoriginal Shoujos
(6 posts, 731 views) Posted: over 2 years ago by Suxinn in I'm Looking For...
Oh, well, if you're only interested in female leads with some romance, then some of my previous recs (e.g. Uchi no Shitsuji ga Iu Koto ni wa which is a mystery with zero romance and two male leads) probably won't work, but I assume you'll probably figure out what you like...
Unoriginal Shoujos
(6 posts, 731 views) Posted: over 2 years ago by Suxinn in I'm Looking For...
Apothecary Diaries is actually seinen, and Crimson Karma is labeled josei here (though it's a webtoon, so it's a bit more variable). Do you actually want just shoujo recs, or are you looking for stories with female leads?

Anyway, here's the shoujo for now...

Murasakiiro no Qualia
This Witch of Mine maybe
Tokyo Babylon (especially when you continue on with X as its sequel)

The beginning of Kitoh Mohiro's stuff usually has some of this (especially Bokurano and Narutaru), but things pretty quickly make a turn for the Sad and Depres...
putting in a new manga on this site
(2 posts, 451 views) Posted: over 2 years ago by Suxinn in Manga General
MU has an anti-troll system in place where you have to first request editing access (as in, change your user group from Members to Updaters). A super simple process: you just have to click on "edit" on any page and then type into the box that pops up why you want access (...
What are you playing now?
(2196 posts, 287535 views) Posted: over 2 years ago by Suxinn in Games
Been playing both Spirit Hunter: Death Mark and Moon Hunters with a friend recently. Former is a decent VN horror game, though with some small missteps in gameplay/storytelling that kind of keeps it from being a great horror game. Latter is a pretty fun sort-of roguelike ...
Altering already digital content
(2 posts, 650 views) Posted: over 2 years ago by Suxinn in Chatter Box
If you're referring to DRM, it depends on what platform the digital stuff is on. Some platforms have DRM and some are explicitly DRM-free. If they don't mention it, it probably has DRM.

Though even if there is DRM, there's lots of tools nowadays to strip DRM from something...
Apocalypse manga recommendations (during the apocalypse, not post)
(7 posts, 374 views) Posted: over 2 years ago by Suxinn in I'm Looking For...
X is the one that springs to mind immediately.

Also, I think Alive: The Final Evolution had one too? It's been a long time since I read it though.

And, for a "classic" zombie apocalypse, Dead Days.

EDIT: Also, while it's nominally post-apocalyptic, 7 Seeds has some moments t...
What criteria do you consider while rating or reviewing a manga?
(9 posts, 1303 views) Posted: over 2 years ago by Suxinn in Manga General
Reviews? Honestly, if I have something to say, whether it's something witty, condescending, or whatever. As long as I think there's something interesting that I could add to conversations about a certain manga, I'll review it.

Ratings? I actually have a relative rating sys...
What is OEL webcomics?
(5 posts, 1009 views) Posted: over 2 years ago by Suxinn in Chatter Box
I'm not quite sure what you're asking here, since MU actually doesn't allow OEL webcomics unless they have been physically published before. (The much contested exclusion of The Beginning After the End, for instance.) If you see an OEL webcomic that's on MU, chances are, ...
Allowing Batoto - Feedback Needed
(18 posts, 4095 views) Posted: over 2 years ago by Suxinn in Announcements
Quote from baiyang
At the same time though, they still host rips of official translations.

IMO they're not as reputable as the original bato.to or mangadex, and unless a lot of releases are falling through the cracks, I'd hold off on accepting Batoto group links. If the gro...

Accidentally stripped the screws while messing with the internals of my Switch pro controller. Thankfully, it was one of the round-head screws on the innermost plastic bracket, so I invested in some pliers for micro-screws (thanks, Japan!) and managed to get it out withou...
New Poll - Manga During Pandemic
(18 posts, 1657 views) Posted: over 2 years ago by Suxinn in News
About the same.

I thought I'd be able to do other things more though, like finally get into my video game backlog, but instead I picked up webnovel translating. I really gotta stop procrastinating on doing even the things I like to do, jeez.
Fake relationship that stays platonic
(4 posts, 556 views) Posted: over 3 years ago by Suxinn in I'm Looking For...
Oh, this is a good request. I'll be wracking my brains for any series that fits this for a while, I suspect.

Anyway, for now, this doesn't exactly fit, but Now That I've Been Chosen to Be the Villainess, I'll Show You an Elegant Performance! has the main character get into...

I grabbed Armello when it was on sale recently, and I've been enjoying it even more than I expected, so much so that, even when I'm not playing, I'm thinking of when I'm going to be playing next.
New Poll - Video Conferencing Software

I used to use Skype back in college when I worked part-time writing articles for a news site, but now I haven't touched Skype in years, and I haven't had to attend a Zoom meeting yet either. (My boss has started texting me a lot since COVID started, though, which is its o...
I'm Looking For "The Beginning After The End"
(12 posts, 13508 views) Posted: over 3 years ago by Suxinn in I'm Looking For...
No, The Beginning After the End is an OEL -- it was written originally in English and then translated into different languages. (I've also found no indication that TurtleMe is Korean, just that he graduated from Berkeley, though who knows, maybe he is. Regardless, OEL ref...
Looking for a novel
(2 posts, 187 views) Posted: over 3 years ago by Suxinn in I'm Looking For...
Just add the series yourself to the database. Most of the folks here don't read webnovels, and with the sheer deluge of them recently, most updaters can't be bothered to keep track/add them unless they're really, really popular now.

Manga set in the 80s or 90s, but not actually made in the 80s or 90s

There's a tag for Showa Era if you're interested.

As for actual series, the first thing that popped to mind was the Shimizu Aki adaptations of Kyougoku Natsuhiko's novels, ala Ubume no Natsu, Mouryou no Hako, etc. Though not sure how closely these fit into your request, si...
New Poll - Archiving Scanlations
(16 posts, 1602 views) Posted: over 3 years ago by Suxinn in News
My reading habits have largely remained unchanged, in that I tend to archive only series I really enjoy while reading everything else online. I have been archiving less and less, though, but that's less a result of readers and more a result of more and more manga being of...
