It's Kirisame ga Furu Mori, I'm pretty sure, and yes, it is based on the game of the same name
No iOS App?
(3 posts, 316 views) Posted: over 3 years ago by Suxinn in Suggestions & Bugs
Yup, the app was from years back, so it's dead/defunct now.

I think someone is working on an android app right now. You can do a search in the forums for it.
Hakoiri = Hentai
(3 posts, 559 views) Posted: over 3 years ago by Suxinn in Suggestions & Bugs
This isn't an MU technicality, it's an industry technicality. Stuff like Shounen, Shoujo, Seinen, Josei, Kodomo, Hentai, etc. depend purely on the magazine it's being published in; these aren't subjective, value-category judgments. There are definitely some iffiness invol...
Where to start?
(8 posts, 525 views) Posted: over 3 years ago by Suxinn in I'm Looking For...
Well, then my original recs stand, and here's a few more...

7 Seeds
Blade of the Immortal
Bokurano
Mob Psycho 100
Mushishi
Spirit Circle

And, not really must-reads, but Helck, Kanata no Astra, and Kekkaishi are all fairly typical shounen mangas done well, and pretty fun popcorn-...
Where to start?

It'd probably be easier if you said specifically what your tastes are. What type of genres do you usually prefer (whether it be in books, movies, etc.)? There's an extremely wide variety of manga, so it's difficult to recommend anything on as vague a request as a "must re...

Hensokukei Quadrangle?
Anime/Manga like Classroom of The Elite & Death Note
(1 posts, 232 views) Posted: over 3 years ago by Suxinn in I'm Looking For...
Aku no Kyouten comes immediately to mind.
Anne Freaks sort of, though I don't think it's executed particularly well here.
Funouhan maybe.
Kami no Kodomo
Kami-sama, Ki-sama o Koroshitai. sort of.
Litchi Hikari Club
Violence Action sort of (she's not exactly "evil", just a sociop...

Really not sure about this, but LLLL?
A shounen with a boy pursuing (or being pursued by) a girl
(3 posts, 291 views) Posted: over 3 years ago by Suxinn in I'm Looking For...
Hm, you're right that it's fairly rare for shounen to have a boy-girl rival instead of just a boy-boy rival...

Some others I've thought of now that I'm skimming the rivalry tag...

Ao no Orchestra has the girl trying to reach the level of the boy, but they're not actual riva...

Kekkaishi is essentially like that, with Yoshimori attempting to catch up to his childhood friend Yukine in the first half of the series. This relationship kind of flips halfway through when Yoshimori becomes stronger than Yukine.

Ragna Crimson has some of this in the begi...
Manga that teaches you about law
(4 posts, 365 views) Posted: over 3 years ago by Suxinn in I'm Looking For...
I remember Isekai Houtei: Rebuttal Barrister has quite a bit about Japanese law, even though it's an isekai. Don't know if you'll actually learn anything from it, though, since the cases are very... specific.

Kurosagi also has a lot about Japanese laws re: fraud, covering ...

Uh... doesn't it say in the corner? It's Kuangshen.
Betelgeuse manga with space travel

Not sure about the first one, though it vaguely reminds me of St&rs.

The second is Madowanai Hoshi.
Really strong but acts like a wimp

7th Garden maybe
Hero Waltz
New Poll - Manga based on Western Literature
(16 posts, 1322 views) Posted: over 3 years ago by Suxinn in News
Honestly, my answer is: If the art is nice, I'll read it. So I guess "doesn't influence my decision" is the closest choice? Though I am more likely to read a manga adaptation of a source I'm familiar with, simply because I'm curious about what changes the mangaka will hav...
Recommend me an RPG?
(9 posts, 1086 views) Posted: over 3 years ago by Suxinn in Games
It's a bit more steampunk than modern, but the Legend of Heroes: Trails series are fantastic. I suggest starting from Trails in the Sky and then working your way to Trails of Cold Steel.
I am trying to find some manga that is like Mayonaka Sanpo
(5 posts, 491 views) Posted: over 3 years ago by Suxinn in I'm Looking For...
So I took a look at it and it vaguely reminded me of something else (though I can't remember what), but some atmospherically similar things...

Anything by Mozou Crystal, particularly Spectral Wizard
Fujiwara Kamui's Orz and Love Sync Dream
Maybe some Tsubana? Especially, Mik...

You should probably explain why you like it/what exactly you're looking for. (The atmosphere? Similar characters?) As it is, it's hard to give any recommendations, especially for those who haven't read the story you mentioned.
Manga like Dear Green
(3 posts, 196 views) Posted: over 3 years ago by Suxinn in Yaoi/Yuri
Yamashita Tomoko is my go-to for BLs about mature adults. Her Dining Bar Akira is probably my favorite of hers, but her short stories are all worth reading too.

Anything Yoshinaga Fumi writes is pretty good too, if you haven't read them yet, particularly What Did You Eat Y...
Licensed BL for someone new to the genre
(4 posts, 234 views) Posted: over 3 years ago by Suxinn in Yaoi/Yuri
I remember Seven Days being pretty good, if you haven't read that yet (and it was quite a few people's introduction to BL, if I remember correctly).

And...
Awairo Emaki
Dining Bar Akira
Umibe no EĢtranger

Also, Yoshinaga Fumi's stuff is usually pretty good. It isn't really BL...
How do you do a research and which sources generally do you use?
(9 posts, 523 views) Posted: over 3 years ago by Suxinn in Chatter Box
What kind of research are you talking about? If you're referring to academic research, obviously stuff like jstor, google scholar, etc. are the go-tos (and your school's library, of course). If you're talking about just cross-referencing if something's true or not, plug i...
New Poll - Sustenance with Manga
(15 posts, 1246 views) Posted: over 3 years ago by Suxinn in News
Never. My parents were always strict about eating only in the kitchen and not doing anything else except eating while I'm there (including talking, apparently). It's so ingrained in me now that even when I first moved out, I didn't dare to eat in my own dorm room... And n...

White Note Pad is the only one that comes to mind that actually treats the subject seriously.

Otherwise, the only other one I can think of is... Mahou Shoujo Ore...
