I strongly suspect that the success of the Yamato remake and the recent Macross, Gundam and Lupin III franchise extensions is the driver here.
Production IG does excellent work when the budget is high enough. Color me optomistic.

Like a lot of people, I got into light novels during the Haruhi thing. The anime came out and people started scanlating the manga, but at the same time a batch of translators and editors founded Baka-Tsuki and started working on the novels.

So he killed her off? Well, I thought he was just recycling Suzuka and KNIM, so this is an improvement. I'd dropped it about 20 chapters ago anyway.
Maybe he's going to rip off Kirara and have her be a ghost guiding her boyfriend in the past?

What, no love for Katawa Shoujo? It's basically a doujin galge written by all native English speakers on one of the common game engines. Good music, not bad plots, and does a good job of not having the usual total doormat main character.
