First time with anything Koizora

I've not seen the movie or read the novel, but I've heard a lot of stuff about Koizora. And they were all good stuff. Anyways I saw that there are scanlations available so I decided to try.

At the beginning, I was like "Alright so far so good" since I do like my drama once in awhile. But omg by the latest volume (which is the third one as of writing), so much drama has happened. I mean is it even possible for all this crap to happen to a single girl!? I know manga is just fiction, but my heart cant take so much serious and depressing stuff happening to Mika. And it seems to me like she's all "Alright, it will be ok." and she moves on as if everything's back to normal, just when something happens again!! By the last volume I wonder what will happen?

Now I'm even more curious to watch the movie cause if it's a shorter version then that might be more tolerable for me.

I completely agree with lys in thinking, what kind of life do Japanese teens have confused Although I like the manga, it's more frightening to know that it's inspired by a real story.....the first two volumes are ok but some important and serious events come and go too fast. I really pity the girl, I think you can feel her loneliss from the very beginning, because her boyfriend has absolutely no clue of what happens around him, showing how immature he is. She's fated to experience a lot of pain and cruelty alone. I do think she's too naive and victimized too often, but the guy is the worst, especially because of something I really don't get
Spoiler (highlight to view)
it seems like to overemphazise the drama in the manga the author makes hiro have another gf, but wasn't his intention not to make mika suffer because of his situation, so why finding another chick, to make her cry instead because she's not important anyway? Or it was probably just to satisfy "certain needs"...at least in the drama you feel like respecting the guy, here he's just a horrible person

The manga is a little worth because there are more things told compared to the movie, but you can't avoid feeling quite bad reading it.

Hmm. The art isn't bad and the story is written pretty well, but it's not really the sort of story I enjoy. Looking at this work objectively, though—as a "true story," (whether or not it really is aside) it makes me worry about Japan's young people, what with their lifestyles and attitudes and the total lack of positive mature role models. Mika especially bothers me with all of her insecurities and self-blaming and the fact that there's no one really to support her and help her see that the various troubles aren't her "fault" at all. The conflict-resolutions usually come down to "Hiro loves me, so all is well" but Hiro himself is just another 16 year old kid.

I do think it's good that this work brings up difficult, "real-life" problems and tries to deal with them in a realistically positive way, but I still think there are some negative attitudes concerning the situations that aren't really addressed. I hope that makes sense.

edited commnet:

okay, i was wrong. movie was waaay better and lighter than the atmosphere of the manga. it seemed everything was just messed up with their relationship to the point I forgot that they're just 16 years old. I feel like everything was waaay to fast and I cant seem to catch up with the events. One thing is for sure, I don't want this kind of relationship ever to happen to me. This is such a scary suicidal, painful love.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OMG! i just finished watching the movie since the two volume released so far of this manga really got me hooked up but who would have thought I'd really bawl my eyes out. I swear, my eyes are in serious condition from too much crying. I don't know and I dont want to imagine how much tears I'm going to cry out once I totally fall in love with the manga. The movie's very tragic and I assume the manga would have be waaay more tragic since it's longer and well character developed. I will still keep going to read this manga and if it gets very depressing, I think I'll stop. I don't want to remember how much I cried from the movie. sigh.

I really like the movie. The story is pretty good. The drama-serie will come out soon so, I'm still waiting for it.

I read few chapters of this manga, and I can tell that the story is a bit different from the movie. (the movie always cuts stuffs and changes the story a bit) Of course, I still like it. XD

I watched the film. Honestly, they just took every aspect of a good drama and crammed it into a two hour movie, with some really good looking actors and a fast moving plot. A lot of details weren't paid attention to, and many things were very unrealistic. It screamed GENERIC every single second.

But guess what.
I bawled my eyes out.

That had to be one of the best/saddest/snot&tear-producing films I have watched in my life. My eyes are still swollen.

I really want to read this.
Really really really reallyy...
I am hoping someone takes up scanlating
