Description
From Yen Press:
Wending his way home after a bender one evening, master moocher and game programmer Keita Ibuki decides to satisfy a craving for ramen at a noodle stand. Instead of slurping soup, though, he surrenders his meal to a manic girl who, unbeknownst to Keita, is a Mototsumitama, a guardian of the coexistence equilibrium. When his new acquaintance is attacked, Keita gets caught in the crossfire and loses an arm. Awakening from the shock of his injury, Keita finds himself back in his apartment, arm intact! But just whose arm is it?

Decent all rounder. There could have been more lore regarding Guardians, but oh well. Will have to re-read when it's fully translated, as now releases are out only when enough time has passed to forget everything that has happened previously till that point. Of course if it ever gets translated. May even learn moon by then.

I kept trying, and the story idea is good, but honestly, the mc is such a ... lets self censor and say jerk.... such a jerk I can't keep doing this. He's unlikeable. It's been years since I last picked this up, so after one more try I'm dropping this for good.
It's such a shame.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
When I began reading the first book. I was not fully prepared for the dark nature of this series. After I had already adapted myself to the dark nature everything was fine and I found it to be very good and enjoyable. I like the deep plot and many underlying secrets that are revealed piece by piece if you keep reading. That's my style of manga, the romance tab helped too because with romance authors have and even greater amount of freedom and options to play with rather than countless action sequences and slap-stick comedy. The author somehow incorporated doppleganers, super-human's, secret organizations, special tribes, and a very good essence of realism into the characters themselves common in IM Dal-Young's many works like Onihime Vs, Unbalance X unbalance, and many others.

So many ask, with so many good points why did I not rate it a nine or at least eight? Well common in Im Dal Young's works is the hugely flawed main character of the male gender. Though most I can stand cause of their unique circumstances. This one however I diffinitely can not, he is so terribly bad that after nine chapters I can not stand it anymore and have to rant. The reasons the manga has been pulled down are:

1: Even though one goes through a tramatic exspirence. That gives no one the right to strangle a girl in bed with a dog collar.
2: After Keita admitted to PUSHING Kuro down three stories of stairs I almost dropped the manga for good but I tried my best I mean very best to endure, and read on.

3: After the fight with the Tribe in the begining Keita said HE will fight them off. Where the H*#! was he not just two minutes ago? Their was someone with a whip their he could 'scare off' but instead he hung outside the fight like a F@#!ing P*^sy. That irked me some and still I got through.

4: This one was the last straw after getting to Mikami's house. He pronounces he turned her into a "killing machine" What the hell does he think he is a dog trainer and Kuro a highly intellectual attack dog that acts on his commands?

I am giving this manga one last chance and only one before I drop it. If anybody else but Im Dal Young had wrote this I would have dropped it after three. But knowing Im Dal Young he has a strange way of making even the most unlike and hated male lead into a badass respectable character after a while. I true, truely hopes he works is magic here. Or this will become the first Im Dal Young manga I drop for a F***ing A**hole of a male lead.

WARNING FUTURE PERSPECTIVE READERS BOTH MALE AND FEMALE ALIKE: If you read this manga make very sure you are able seeing a women abused with little to no justification for it at all. I for one can not and am giving it my last try I wish you luck future readers and for those that like happy reading and wish you many more chapters.

the story is different from the anime version
just like the fate stay night manga it is different from anime version.

I already finish the anime version
and since the story somehow is different
I expect the ending is different or similar
to anime version but there are lots of twist
in this version even the enemies were kinda
powerful and the manga version is somehow
more detailed and cool!

yup love it to the point that
the anime version is nothing compared
to this since anime version is somehow
a bit short or force to be ended early.

but the manga has lots of potential
there is one character there that become
their ally although in anime she is just neutral!

at first the guy somehow started as a jerk but
then later he become more of a nice guy!

Okay...

It's decent, but not great. It's getting better as it goes because the protagonist becomes less insufferable, but as a whole it's not all that strong. Lots of cliche and it's a bit 'same-y'. It's rare that the outcome of something will be surprising. There are some cool ideas though, and the action is nice, but ... eh - when the outcome of the fight is pretty much foregone conclusion it gets a bit dull.

I think the main letdown is the characters. The villains are bland and from what we've seen of them, their motivations are lame. The protagonist is an unsympathetic dick, basically. Kuro and Akane are fairly one dimensional, though Kuro's enjoyable enough to watch.

Overall it comes out feeling like an inferior version of 3x3 Eyes, which it uses a lot of the same concepts as.

Black God

The series itself is pretty decent. The artwork is nice and there are no real problems with the pacing.

As for being unrealistic, I may agree to some extent. But compared to other series, (HSDK/R+V/etc, with their completely laughable discrepencies and stretches) this series manages to do alright.

While the male lead may not be the best, he's certainly not the worst. He also begins to progress as the story continues.

And as for being "abusive"... completely ridiculous. One-panel, transient, comic-bullying in no way qualifies as abuse. There's no real malice behind his actions, and to Kuro, even a punch from a regular human would be akin to a slap on the wrist. This abuse is comparable to Neuro's actions towards Yako. (Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro)

I can never get absorbed in this manga or feel really connected to the story in any way because the premise is do unrealistic. This severely damages any attempt to get involved with the story and its characters (which are weak, in my opinion, because of the unrealistic answers to unrealistic issues).

I realize that ALL manga have a degree of unbelievability to them, but i'm still able to get absorbed in their works. I can't for Kurokami.

Kuro: most adorable character in manga!

This is is one of my favorite mangas.

Despite the fact that this Manga has the most abusively-disgusting male lead; the female lead Kuro, is the most heartwarming adorable cutest character in Manga history. Her utter puppy-like cutest, is the heart of the manga, and way overshadows the abusive male-lead (who does get nicer, more vulnerable, and sympathetic as the manga goes on). You will root for Kuro, and cheers as she continuously get's cuter, stronger and closer to your heart.

ps: Lots of great mangas have an 'epic old man', this manga is no exception (the awesome Grandpa !)

ps, ps: Kuro is one of my favorite manga character's of allll time

Great Story, Great Fights, (an epic old man) Great Characters and Character Developments (Girl's will like this manga too!)

Final Word: CoCo (hearts) Kuro

the manga is actually quite decent. art is mildly awesome and there is a moderately good plot. the main protagonist is faulty. at first he's a jerk, then he later develops a really bad mother complex. not the best character but after a while, he gets to be adequate and not so much useless. hes still a loser but it doesn't stop me from reading. anyways, id say overall, the manga deserves to be read but with patience for a developing story.
