I had the feeling after reading the previous related work that there was definitely something more to the seme than meets the eye. This was nicely written and entirely tragic. I just don't like that the ending was so abrupt. I don't buy that the uncle would leave the kid unexplained like that, it's too random. After being emotionally dependent on the kid for so long, I would need some kind of closure on the uncle's side, such as, unfortunately, suicide or even going to prison. I would have also liked to see how the kid picks up the pieces afterwards and patches together the life he has when we meet him in the following work.

Great work, I just want more!

Well this story sure was messed up, but the mangaka's execution of it was surprisingly nuanced given the unpleasant theme. She didn't approach it with a black and white morality mindset, and instead presented the characters' multifaceted complexities in a manner as honest as she could and left the judgement work entirely to the audience. Regardless of how one perceives its events this is still an interesting take on the past of the main character in Chou to Hana no Kankeisei.
