One of the better shounen manga out there. Art starts out a bit rough, but not bad and in later volumes improves to a good quality. The description is a little bit misleading as you think it might be about a high school kid who does troubleshooting work (for 10K yen). I originally avoided it because of that, but saw so many positive reviews that I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. It has quite a few different elements, but for the most part the mangaka makes it work and it instead feels like it has a nice amount of variety. One of its strengths is that the mangaka creates a system
I get the feeling that the series was axed (maybe mangaka wanted to move on or there wasn't enough sales), because some things are not developed completely and it feels a little rushed at times. One of the things that is not developed is the characters. The two main leads come off as a little generic or bland. One of the characters that seems significant in the beginning and seems to be part of a love triangle kinda disappears for a long time only to be brought back towards the end. Another character who is part of the main good guys group seems to have some questionable morals and motivations which we are led to believe will be investigated but he also vanishes to be brought back in the end.
The series is pretty strong until the later volumes, it then becomes a typical shounen battle manga. Abilities were normally explained previously in regards to the system that was set up. Instead we get some bad guys exhibiting a ridiculous number of powers that sometimes didn't make sense with the system created. We also get the typical shounen power-ups and the whole stopping time to train bit which we've seen often in titles like dragonball and bleach. Everything was a bit dumbed down for this stretch. We get a split personality thrown in that kinda comes from left field (almost no foreshadowing) and we are led to believe that this is going to be a serious issue for the character but is quickly and easily resolved at the end. There is a bunch of other stuff that I could list that smacks of rushing things which left me frustrated in the last few volumes. All of this makes me feel that the mangaka had intended the series to originally be longer. However, the mangaka does a satisfactory job in tying off or providing some resolution to many things in the final chapters. Those final chapters saved the story for me and made me feel better overall. So, I guess I would say it was pretty good for the first 75% of the series and then it dropped significantly and finally regained its footing with the last few chapters.
It is still overall a very good and entertaining series. I'd give it about an 8 even with its rushed ending and other weaknesses.

for psi abilities that is based on 3 main attributes with skills that are derived from those attributes and can be combined to create interesting abilities.

Well, personally I think the end is rushed. It didn't match my expectation and it was like the author is throwing a rock right at my face .
Nevertheless, I think it's the best solution out there. If I can rewrite Psyren's ending (like, in fan-fiction or something), I couldn't give it better ending so I think we will let the ending as it is

And for the fate of #07, since she existed in normal time so she wouldn't be disappeared when the time changes because she wasn't born in that alternate future. Who affected are those born and die in between 2009 ~ 2018.
But I don't understand why there must be a parallel world (where everyone died but main characters). If the future is changed then that world shouldn't exist. Maybe the parallel world concept is involved because it explains time paradox.
I'm bad at solving time paradox's problem :P

I honestly have never read something as awesome as this. I decided to read it because I found it randomly in mangastream and decided to take a look. I thought "hmm, the battle scenes look really good, I'm gonna try it". And so it began. Starting immediately in the first chapter, the story was already surprisingly good, and as I read more and more, everything became better and better. Even some arcs that looked like they would be not as good as previous ones had mind-blowing twists. And the battles are simply the best ever, I've never seen anything as good as this. So give this manga a chance, read it, and you're gonna love it. I recommend Psyren with all my might.

i started reading Psyren when a friend introduced it to me. to me, what makes a good first impression is the art. and truth be told, the art isn't that good at the beginning (it gets STUNNING later on). anyway, i kept reading because my friend was nagging me to. then i was hooked. Psyren is absolutely awesome. none of the arcs are dragged out or feel rushed, which is always a plus. anyway, let's break things down.
plot 8.5/10 - like some others said, this manga is pretty much a mix of a few other mangas, but with its own twist. i don't read that much shonen, but even i can tell that Psyren is quite typical, but the author makes it work. it starts out being a strategy manga, but quickly turns into a battle manga when 'psi' is introduced. that put me off at first, but the author has developed the idea of 'psi' pretty nicely which is surprising. in short, the plot is cliched with a twist (in a good way).
characters 7/10 - truth be told, some of the characters are kind of bland to me. the main characters yoshina and amamiya, oh god they are SO forgettable. it took me about 15 chapters to remember their names (maybe its just my bad memory, but still). their personalities are boring. yoshina is your typical hot headed but passionate hero, and amamiya....she's just too dull. her only good point is her fighting skills. on the other hand, i absolutely LOVE kyle. he is just too adorable. don't you love the massive hugs he gives yoshina whenever they reunite? it's so cute!
art 10/10 - the art starts out meh (yoshina's look is very inconsistent. in one panel he looks like a kid, in another he looks like an adult), but becomes amazing quickly. the anatomy is quite accurate and there are enough details in the drawings that tell you the author actually does his/her work properly. i especially like the character designs, NOT yoshina or amamiya, but others such as tatsuo, kyle, frederica, junas, matsuri etc. they all look badass in their own way, and they're actually memorable unlike the main characters -____-
overall 9/10 - hey, what can i say? despite its flaws, Psyren is amazing. the length is perfect: not too long or short. the ending feels a bit rushed, but that's not enough to ruin the manga. if you're looking for a shonen manga with good art and a decent plotline, Psyren is a must-read

I liked the ending. It didn't feel too rushed, just realistic. I'm glad it ended when it did, I hate it when they keep on going and going and going, like Naruto. Which I lost interest in a long ways back.
I also really liked the romance in it. It was there, not just hinted at, but not overblown.

Uwaaaaah, that was so good! I just finished the series two seconds ago and I officially love it. I have to say it's not often I finish a series and am actually satisfied with how it ended. It started out a little meh, this could be interesting or it could be just weird, but it turned out to be really awesome. The plot turned out to be thoroughly exciting, understandable (despite the paradoxes), and surprising. The characters were lovable (especially Yoshina, Kyle, Shao, uh, almost all the guys) and the girls weren't too annoying or useless, as happens with some shounen manga. The villains had motives that made sense (at least to them, and we could believe it) and the bit of romance was sweet. It was also occasionally pretty funny, fufufu. Over all, a read that felt very worth it to finish.

When i finished the manga, i couldn't believe it, i just thought there would be way more story but i guess it's good they didn't drag it out. Anyway, Psyren was pretty good in the beginning, mystery that surrounded the calling cards and the supense that lead up to knowing about Psyren.
After that.....the manga took a huge shift which is not bad but a lot of the charcters got worn out in the shift and i wasn't too impressed with the storyline. Well, with decent action, it wasn't a bad read so give it a shot.

I started reading Psyren with absolutely no idea about what it was. Really, I simply picked it up from the mass of mangas out there. I started reading it and actually enjoyed it a lot! The story was intriguing and amazing, the characters were good too. I expected it would be a different manga, about brains instead of brawls, like Bloody Monday or Liar Game.
But then I reached the point when they started talking about psy, I noticed this was the "monetary power system" of the manga, I understood it was actually simply a shonen manga, like Naruto and Bleach, and I lost the interest (I'm was kind of tired of shonen by the time).
Probably I should start reading it again, this time knowing what to expect, and check if it's good or not. I guess I posted this comment just to warn people not to mistake things like I did. Read it if you like shonen like Naruto or Bleach.

Psyren was certainly a bizarre manga. When I first started, I really loved it. And then everything went downhill. Characters, plot, quality, etc. The last thirty or forty chapters were just bad, especially the last few. It's a real shame, it had a ton of potential in the beginning. Great character, interesting plot. Then a bunch of new characters whose names I could never remember got introduced, and all the good characters got stranded in the future or just stopped appearing (I'm looking at you, headscarf guy!).
All in all, it's a shame about what happened to Psyren. But the author was digging himself into a hole. Still, I was very sad when I learned it was being canceled.

Miroku Amagi
and his crew would learn the nova ability too or something to be a threat again or new villans would apear because i really thought this manga had a lot of potential to be in the top next to the big 3 like Fairy tail did but oh well. i just hope that the author gets an anime version of this and/or that there is a sequel to this manga (like The Breaker manga did). so i guess ill look forward to his next work then.Spoiler (mouse over to view)
plus the mithra villan getting her ass handed that quickly made sense since in the future ageha beat Miroku (pretty easily i might add) and Miroku practically beat Mithra while dying from the wound ageha inflicted, so ageha was obviously capable of beating her that fast he was on another level
